I'm an open-minded person. I don't do hate speech, but I speak the way I speak. That can be abrasive at times because I never bought into any of the parties involved with both the recent and ongoing systemic problems pertaining to The Great Divide here in America. I can practically guarantee I'll say something that digs beneath the skin and have no idea I'm doing it, but I truly mean no harm...unless someone is standing on my toes.
I grew up on hip-hop, metal, punk and most things of a defiant nature and still tend to gravitate towards these things. I'm a little more reasonable when I act on this defiance than I was at a younger age. Studying journalism has given me a voice and helped me relate to a wide range of people. I appreciate both diversity and unity. I understand this is paradoxical, but my experiences sitting alone in pigeon holes always led to anger and fear. Can we compromise on a diverse range of individuals who stand on common ground? I hope so. Moving on...
Sometimes I hide from the world so I can catch my breath before reengaging. I like to play video games and watch horror or dark comedies during these times. I can get a little too distracted while detaching, but I always stick my head back up.
I have a dry, cynical sense of humor. I love random bouts of irreverence. These traits tend to come out when I'm comfortable with the person/people I'm around. I'm generally shy and introverted up until that point. I've been through a lot. It's how I manage to be a part of the world around me.
I'd rather not be at times.
Pure Irreverence is not just a name. I will take a sarcastic approach to just about any facet of life, but I generally guage where the other parties involved are at before I do so. Sometimes it's best for me to take a matter seriously.
Music: Generally loud and heavy, but I can listen to They Might be Giants, The Lonely Island, The Fugees and Lauren Hill with the best of them.
Food: The kind I like to eat.
That's about that. How'd I do?
Random moments of controlled chaos.
