My self-summary
I’ve often wondered why all you can eat Chinese buffets typically have dishes that are completely out of place, like pizza or fish sticks, but it does make an excellent metaphor for peoples’ personalities. The main components that drive me are the pursuit of knowledge and appreciation for natural processes. We live in an amazing and beautiful world, and the more we learn about it, the more we realize we don’t know.
What I’m doing with my life
What I’m doing right now is easily condensed into working, planning my return to school, and hanging out with friends when I have time; but that’s boring so I’m going to write about things that I want to do, even if I may not be actively pursuing them at this moment. I want to travel the world! I’ve never been outside the U.S. to my chagrin. I want to hike the trails in the redwood forests of the Pacific Northwest. Watch the cherry petals fall and blanket the ground while sipping sake in Japan, or snuggle under a blanket with a good book and some hot chocolate during a snowstorm in the Swiss Alps.

I’m going to go back to school and get a degree, but in what subject I don’t know. I love science, ALL the sciences, and so I’d be happy focusing on any of them. If forced to choose, at this point I’d say either a PharmD so I could be a pharmacist, because it’s inclusive on so many different subjects; or astrophysics, suns and planets are pretty freaking cool. Not to mention black holes. Neil deGrasse Tyson is kind of my hero.

I want to learn how to cook. I make a mean boxed Mac’n’Cheese, but that leaves a lot to be desired! I dream of someday being able to set out a full meal complete with wine pairings, but right now I’m just following recipes. Small steps… It’s surprisingly complex trying to cook for just one person, so I use my family as guinea pigs once a week or so. So far, no trips to the hospital. Someone to cook with would be nice, too!
I’m really good at
I have the innate ability to take simple concepts and ideas and make them seem much more complicated, through my unconscious use of multisyllabic words and my vast lexicon of somewhat arcane vocabulary. Why use ten words with more ambiguous definitions that can adequately convey your thoughts when you can say exactly what you mean in twenty-five? Sarcasm is also one of my things.

My friends tell me I have a great sense of humor, with a quick mind and a sharp wit. I love making people laugh. I don’t have a collection of knock-knock jokes, spontaneous mid-conversation quips are my specialty. If you insist I could regale you with some pretty terrible puns, guaranteed to make palm meet face in the universal sign of exasperation. That was supposed to be mildly humorous but I think it came out more like a threat. Whoops!

Maintaining strong friendships. I have a few close friends that mean the world to me, and a few acquaintances. This means I can focus all my energy and attention on those that matter most to me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
That's a lot of things to list consecutively!
My favorite books are fantasy series, such as The Wheel of Time, The Sword of Truth, The Dark Tower, and of course The Lord of the Rings. Recently acquired the Game of Thrones series, and after reading all five books I'm still on the fence on whether to classify it as "good" or "great".

Movies aren't usually my go to source of entertainment, but I am fond of Stardust, Across the Universe, Full Metal Jacket, Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog, and Gladiator.

I'll listen to any music really, but what you'll typically find on my stereo is Daft Punk, Blink-182, Offspring, Drop Kick Murphys, Anberlin, and similar artists. I'll occasionally go on classical music kicks too.

Italian food is my secret weakness. Don't tell anyone. (Yes, this is especially true for pizza even if it isn't technically Italian in origin.)
Six things I could never do without
A sense of humor, laughter is the very best medicine after all :D

Books! Despite the internet's best attempts, still my favorite leisure activity.

A constant influx of new interesting things to learn. My grey matter needs regular exercise.

Ambition, I'm always in a constant struggle to better myself.

Music, though I'm not a particularly artsy person, music is a window into the soul of humanity.

Pants? I'm a big fan of pants...
On a typical Friday night I am
Normally on my weekends I’ll be hanging out at home, chillin’ with my cats and a book or some Netflix. I am absolutely the personification of cool, heheh. I do go out a few times a month, just not every weekend. My most common destination is karaoke, because nothing screams fun like standing in front of a group of strangers and demonstrating why you don’t have a Grammy. Seriously though, it’s a blast. Being in Colorado I almost feel it’s a requirement to spend time hanging out at breweries, and the delicious concoctions they serve don’t hurt either. Left Hand is my favorite, followed closely by Oskar Blues. Rarely, when the whimsy strikes me, I’ll drive up to the mountains and go star gazing.

What is your favorite color?

What is the average airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Or if you want to grab a cup of coffee sometime. :)
