My self-summary
I love travel, conflict, and intrigue. Not sure where I'll end up next, but all we have is now. And I'm cool with that.
What I’m doing with my life
Update: No longer in Europe. In the States.

As I've just moved to the US from Europe, this is the reason I am not looking for a GF at the moment. Too much in transition. I think Steve Harvey said something about that in his "Think Like a Man" movie/book. Ladies, I'm sure you know what I mean.
I’m really good at
Offending people while trying to build rapport
Having a beard
Making jokes on any topic you can name. Really. I'll get 2/3 minimum
Pretending to know how to dance

While this is a simple laundry list, I have a unique talent for appearing to be a frat guy among intellectuals and a nerd among jocks. This also manifests itself in that I come off as a liberal among conservatives and a conservative among liberals. It's just so difficult being right when everyone else is wrong.
The first things people usually notice about me
In Germany, when I walk in the room it's often that people think I'm there to fix the lights or plumbing.

Most folks usually see a Neanderthal/Viking with very little social graces and a lust for wine, women, and song. They're probably correct.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies: Dr. Zhivago, Pride of the Yankees

Music: Mojave 3, Flaming Lips, Alt Country, Neil Young, Lyle Lovett

Food: Anything with strong flavors

Authors: Stephen Dunn, Benoit Mandelbrot, Michael Spivak
Six things I could never do without
Intellectually Curious People, Physical Expression, Personal Space, Challenges, The Great Wide Open.

That's five. And I'll put it this way: the more things you "need", the less free you are to be something apart from them.

As I've recently given up many of my possessions while moving from country to country, I've also had to think about what things are truly important to me. As far as the physical ones go, I can't say too many of them are.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Language. Economics. Physiology. The next cup of coffee.

How did evolution shape our behavior and our ecosystem? How did altruism come about in a world of selfish people?

The Human Body: how we move and react. E.g. it's not just that we can walk and talk, most apes can't even point. We have some sort of built-in component for sympathy and a realization that others can think like us. This fascinates me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Traveling to a new place or out meeting new people is what I would like to say, but sometimes I find myself at the office working on a problem far beyond normal hours.

I enjoy spending weekends on the go, cooking something experimental, or in a new city/country if possible.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have an intolerance for bullies. It really gets under my skin. When I see bullying, I'm prone to call them out on it. This sometimes makes things a little awkward, but I've never felt bad about doing it.
You should message me if
You like dating, going somewhere different, talking to someone different.
You're not looking for me to be your boyfriend right away, but that you're open to exploring that down the line should we really connect.

You are discontent with average and prefer risk to security.

You want to conquer the universe with me. Or at least show me the correct composition of a compost heap.

You like guys who are more complicated than they look.
I'm also a fan of complicated girls. Now I know every woman is in some way complicated, but I think you know who you are.

Or, ya just wanna drink Belgian beer and smoke cigars while listening to Mazzy Star.
