My self-summary
Mix together a child's curiosity with a 20-something's wanderlust and an engineer's drive to find the best solution. Now add a frat boy's obsession with his favorite team and the associated trash talking in a Midwestern accent with a blunt, cutting sense of humor.

My life has taken some twists and turns that I never, ever could have imagined (build an oil platform in a Louisiana swamp?). Sometimes you just say yes and drive over the crest of that insane San Francisco hill and trust that there's road on the other side and that it will take you in the general direction you want to go. Or at least somewhere pretty interesting.
What I’m doing with my life
Living it. At this moment that means enjoying San Francisco and walking to work every day. It recently meant traveling to some of the most rural and crazy places on the map (ever heard of Nanba? neither has Google) to manage construction projects. I am greatly enjoying having my Chucks and blazers back in rotation.
I’m really good at
Being loud. Making killer buttermilk pancakes from scratch. Being overly enthusiastic about small things.
The first things people usually notice about me
In the room: My big smile and bigger laugh.

In conversation: My Sconnie accent. I'll probably have a little upper-Midwestern lilt for the rest of my life.

Up close: Woah, your eyes are dark! Where are your pupils?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Currently reading: The Wind Up Bird Chronicles and Theodore Rex. The last books I read include: John Adams, The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt, Stephen King's On Writing, The Man Who Saved the Union (Ulysses Grant biography), All Quiet on the Western Front, The Red Badge of Courage, The Great Gatsby, American Gods. On the reading list: Wuthering Heights, Games Without Rules: The Often Interrupted History of Afghanistan, Team of Rivals, Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights.

Movies: Into Temptation, most any Ken Burns documentary (The Civil War is a favorite), Good Will Hunting, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Social Network, Finding Nemo, Gone With the Wind, Rear Window, North by Northwest, Dead Poet's Society, Inherit the Wind

Shows: Mad Men, The League, Frasier, Game of Thrones (although the books are better, as always), Entourage, South Park, Archer, Downton Abbey, The Newsroom, Project Runway

Music: Depends on my mood. Currently on a Haim / Bastile / Mackelmore kick. Lots of pop/today's hits. I also like Everlast, Johnny Cash, Death Cab for Cutie, Eminem, Blink182, and my Temptations Pandora station.

Food: my dad's buttermilk pancakes, pomegranates, corn on the cob fresh from a roadside stand, sushi, homemade ice cream, and every pastry ever.
Six things I could never do without
My watch (I feel naked without it!)
A pen and nice journal
Sugar (seriously, diabetes would be a fate worse than death for me)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why don't we have a teleportation system yet? Seriously?
On a typical Friday night I am
Out and about with my fantastic roommates visiting the neighborhood dive bars and eating tacos. So, so many delicious tacos...

Or I'm curled up on the couch under a blanket with Netflix and my knitting. But it's definitely one of these two things.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My workout playlist is full of Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, Ke$ha, and Kanye. Yes I do the cook'n, yes I do the clean'n...
You should message me if
You are excited by the idea of a girl being so absorbed watching a sporting event she can't carry a conversation.
You like a good argument now and then.
You enjoy good beer and better food with great company.
