As my daughter moves into more independent childhood I find myself emerging from the craziness of school and caring for a baby with a need to rediscover who I was and spend some time doing the things that I love.
Mostly I am looking for other parents (single or married) of children roughly my daughters age who would be happy to sit and have coffee or a beer while the children play and we can talk about... anything... work, books, music, silly gossip, the adorable thing the kids just did. If you like to hike, camp or spend an afternoon at the river that's even better.
I would describe myself as somewhat funky/bohemian. I enjoy intellectual pursuits, but hate snobbery. I enjoy a good book, but can also consume melodrama on the TV with gusto. I do not take myself too seriously, strive to enjoy the moment and am strong in my independence.
I am hopelessly liberal and have no tolerance for any bigotry of any kind.
I love to be outside, whether it's in my little yard, at the river or a weekend camping. If I could afford it, I'd camp every weekend in the summer. I love the small, less noticed parts of nature and don't need the grandiose to get me out into it. In fact, going to over crowded places like Yosemite is totally unappealing to me, give me some secluded wilderness and I'm in heaven.
I've really been enjoying working in my garden this summer and am working on reading a backlog of Harpers that my daughter is apparently very jealous of.
