My self-summary
Information sponge and unashamed history nerd with a near terminal addiction to tea and a smartarse sense of humour.
What I’m doing with my life
Teaching students how to research. Studying so I can do this abroad. Writing other stuff cos its fun. Being a Viking on weekends.
I’m really good at
Remembering obscure historical factoids that are of no practical use but that I find interesting, mostly handy for pub quizzes.

I started doing storytelling performances last year (its awesome fun), not very practiced at it yet but I tell a mean saga.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Lots of non-fiction, lots and lots. History mostly but also bits of sociology, psychology, politics, crime. Anything to do with people and the weird things that we do.
Fiction wise I like a good story so Stienbeck, Cormac McCarthy, I grew up with the works of the late, great Terry Pratchett so those are a favourite too. Currently expanding my literary tastes so any recommendations are welcome.

Music: Things with guitar in for the most part. At the moment country music, the music of pain (and moonshine and crazyness and don't-give-a-damn-about-anything exuberance). Ranging from Jonny Cash to more modern stuff like the Steeldrivers and the Civil Wars.
Relatedly folk and bluegrass such as Crooked Still and Sarah Jarosz. Fact; any music is improved with the addition of banjos and fiddles (for proof see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezRhtnWWUUc ).
Also various bits of rock music from Kansas to the Black Keys

Filmed entertainment: Too numerous to mention everything but right now, Archer, House of Cards, the Wire, the Coen Brothers' remake of True Grit, anything by Ken Burns.

Food: Tea, Bacon.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
For my English A-Level class play I once wore a pink fairy costume... with steel-toed boots and a shaved head.
