My self-summary
I'm an uncle to an awesome niece and nephew, a friend, a cook, electrician, home remodeler, baker, reader, wanna be writer, and photographer. I'm usually not far from my kindle. I also have a slight love affair with the Oxford comma.

So, what am I looking for? Someone who's willing to have some good conversation over drinks (coffee or otherwise) or quite possibly a meal if we happen to get hungry. I'm not expecting anything else, just conversation. I'd like to spend the time just getting to know each other and let what happens, happens. No pressure, minimal telenovela drama.

I originally set this profile up when I was a believer - I'm currently weeding through questions and changing it up since I've recently changed to 'unaffiliated but still involved'

I find myself growing increasingly 'liberal' as I age - and disturbed by the narrow mindedness of people who claim to be open minded.

I while I enjoy my coworkers and their company sometimes one needs to meet new people in the area. I've been working here long enough that it's time to embrace it and explore.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a field service technician for a small contractor that sells electrical equipment to Data Centers. I travel the country supporting those installations and the acceptance testing necessary for certification. I'm currently in the Dulles/Ashburb area and will be here for the next several years. I have an apartment now as 320 nights in a hotel was enough last year... It's nice to have someplace consistent to go home to - it's also convenient because it's a five minute walk to work.
I’m really good at
Reading. Remembering selective pop-culture references. Looking up things on the ol' internet. Sneezing. Being there for my friends. Always wanting to follow any typed "G" with "".

I'm a hell of a cook. I can be known to speak in movie quotes from time to time. I'm gifted at coming up with analogies to explain difficult concepts... I'm damn good at my job.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm 6'3".
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I am a voracious reader. Voracious. I do have a home library which is currently stuffed to the gills with books. I still love spending time in the stacks at the used book stores looking for a bit of overlooked treasure. One of these days I'm gonna thin the herd, however, since I re-read constantly that's gonna be difficult. Particulars: The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, Harry Potter, Mocking Jay series, anything by Joe Hill, anything by Ernest Cline and a whole slew of others...

I also enjoy Doctor Who, NCIS, Top Gear (UK version!), Sherlock, BSG, and just discovered The West Wing on NetFlix - fantastic writing. I also just started watching Friends - I'd dismissed it until recently.

Music: Almost anything. I just discovered that Pandora limits you to 60 different stations- drat.

Some favorites: NIN, Rush, Smetana, Mozart, anything with a harpsichord, Smashing Pumpkins, Mumford and Sons, Arlo Guthrie, Woody Guthrie and hundreds of others.

Shows: Loved Wicked (I read the book and didn't enjoy it - the musical, however, was/is fantastic) and the Lion King on Broadway. I want to see more. Community plays are fun and entertaining. Community access TV? Not so much.

Food: Omnivore who will try anything once. (I've even tried celery 30 or 40 times and still hate it. Ants on a log? Worst. Dessert. Ever.)
The six things I could never do without
Other than the requirements everyone has (food and water)

Reading material.
Friends & Family.
My camera.
Cast iron skillet.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The state of the world in general, what's next on my agenda, how my friends are doing, if I've read that particular article in Wired, Did I just feel my phone vibrate? No, it's on ring, wait is it? Mmm... Coffee... Ok, heard that song a lot recently time to skip it. What shall I read next... Did I just think 'shall' or do I really use it in real life? Hmm... Got several example texts with 'shall' in them so I guess I do use it... Is it time to go to bed yet? The state of the world in general, what's next on my agenda.
On a typical Friday night I am
It's usually up in the air as to where I am, or what I'll be doing. If it's nice, I may very well be on my bike wandering about with no particular destination in mind. Ideally I'd be spending time with friends having a drink and some intense conversation. Barring that I'll be somewhere reading (or rereading) a book or three or experimenting in the kitchen.

I also spend a lot of Friday's in the airport. I didn't realize how much until I was recognized by a flight attendant and she brought me my preferred drink without asking...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I currently consider myself an agnostic. I must believe a little due to some experiences in my past, however the state of the world as it is leads me to doubt. It's an interesting position to be in.
You should message me if
You're looking for conversation and beverages (either caffeinated or alcoholic) and a relaxed low pressure atmosphere. It's all about the mental connection and getting to know the person drinking from the other glass or mug.
