My self-summary
Kangaroos are just T-Rex deers. Think about it.

That isn't really meant to be any kind of indicator on who I am or what I'm like, just a little ice-breaker. No, I did not make that up (it's actually true).

First thing you should know about me: I'm an intellectual. GUH, I know, we're the worst, right? Hopefully that's mitigated by the second thing you should know about me: I'm really dumb in a lot of ways, and my intellectual side is forced to confront it on a daily basis, so I've developed a sense of humor about it.

I even have an entire photo album on my Facebook dedicated to cataloging my daily failure to properly flip my eggs in the skillet. Yes, I make myself eggs (nearly) every day.

I'm a dog person, though cats, like most animals, love me just fine. Same with kids. While I do want to have the chillens some day, and while I seem to get along with them really well now, I'm perfectly happy being a non-parent for the time being. I'm still building my career.

Last thing you should definitely know about me: I have a lot of hope for the future. Part of me worries I may be setting expectations too high, but if you never disappoint yourself you never really tired much, did you? I want awesome things to happen, and I want you (whoever you are) to be the best of them.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to balance everything. I have many friends, many projects, many interests. My day job is merely a precursor to what I want to do someday, a stepping stone.

I guess in everything I am simply seeking improvement, in one way or another.
I’m really good at
Driving. Among other things.
The first things people usually notice about me
Obviously, that I have red hair. Sometimes I can't wait to go gray.

Other things new acquaintances have been quoted observing about me: I'm funny; I'm smart; I'm buoyant.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Between the Bridge and the River; Harry Potter; Peter F. Hamilton's books; Hunger Games (that third one was rough, though, no?); Divergent; The Sword of Truth (although it tapers off on the last few books)

Movies: Star Wars; Christopher Nolan's Batman films; Inception; The Game; The Social Network; Forgetting Sarah Marshal; 500 Days of Summer; Star Trek; Sabrina; Casablanca; Crazy, Stupid Love; Superbad; Meet Joe Black; The Matrix...

TV: GAME OF THRONES; Lost; How I Met Your Mother; Friends; Arrested Development; Archer; Community; Deadwood; Carnivale; The Wire; Veronica Mars; Party Down; Battlestar Galactica; Breaking Bad; Walking Dead; Mad Men (so anything on AMC...); Survivor; New Girl...

Music: Florence + The Machine; Brand New; Lykke Li; Muse; Iron & Wine; Coldplay; Bon Iver; Adele; Paper Route; Ramona Falls; Gotye; Radiohead; Sleeping At Last; J Tillman; Imogen Heap; Fire Theft; Family of the Year; The Heavy (and if this wasn't indie enough for you, please don't contact me)

Food: Rather than just rattle off a bunch of good dishes, I'll just say I will try anything once, but I have higher success rates with stuff that is less than vegetarian. Not that I don't enjoy a good salad (romaine, apples/pears, rasins/cranberries, walnuts, almonds, tomatoes, strawberries (yes), red & green peppers and grilled chicken OMG), but that's just how it is. I especially have a hard time with onions (unless they're hidden in every conceivable way) olives and cauliflower. LOVE steamed broccoli.

Actually, you know what? No, I won't try ANYTHING once. Rules: it has to be dead, and things with too many appendages are a "no, thank you.".
Six things I could never do without
To answer this question, I imagined I was marooned on a small-ish island. What six things would be the bare-minimum commodities that could make me happiest?

Good company
Good food
The night sky

A few of these are admittedly a bit sappy, but truthfully, if I had a personal heaven, it would be almost exclusively these things. I'm not obsessed with any one kind of food or treat, I'm not in love with my car or my phone... I just want those six things.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. I'm not a worrier, but I love to ponder. I'll consider astrophysics one minute, and then I'll move on to ethics, history, sex, architecture, law, philosophy, technology, or one of the many stories I'm gradually writing in my head. Sometimes I just think about that brick over there and the fact that it's seen a lot of stuff in its years in the side of that building.

Also how boring it must be to be a brick.
On a typical Friday night I am
There is no "typical" Friday night anymore. Sometimes I'm home, eating dinner my brother (roommate) and I ordered out, sometimes there are friends with us. Sometimes we're out and about.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm on Team Jacob.
You should message me if
You're the love of my life. I imagine Fate has a way of making you aware of this if you are.

Also if you want to. I can't guarantee I'll reply, and if I don't, just remember: 99% of the messages I send out I never hear back from either.
The two of us
