My self-summary
The best use, it seems to me, of the final few years of my twenties, is to travel by motor scooter to visit all UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the world. Perhaps you want to come?
What I’m doing with my life

1. Russian
2. Persian
3. Serbian
4. Luganda
5. Portuguese
6. Forest Nenets

I’m really good at
Reading people. Writing love letters. Witty banter. Eating grapes. Conspiratorial glances. Climbing to the top of buildings and hills and the like
The first things people usually notice about me
Research tracking minute minute first-sight eye-movements is fascinating; the dwarf reason sits precariously on the shoulders of the unthinking giant, emotion!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Mornington Crescent (game).

Reading. I don't have time to read as much as I'd like, but: Borges, Joyce, Jane Austen, W.B.Yeats, Tolstoy, Doestoevsky, I.B.Singer, Dickens, Dante, Joyce, P.G.Wodehouse, etc. What a prententious list! I also have a great interest in old-style travel literature, written before the world became small, and love to visit places I've read about. People like George Borrow, Norman Douglas, Isabella Bird, (Captain Sir) Richard Burton (KCMG FRGS), Charles Doughty etc. I'd be great fun to someday meet somebody who shares this rather peculiar interest!

Films. Jaime Rosales, Otar Iosseliani, Woody Allen, Giuseppe Tornatore, Scorsese, Sergio Leone, Alexander Sokurov, Tim Burton, Lukas Moodysson, Emir Kusturica. Many comedies! The Royle Family, The Thick Of It, Fry & Laurie, The Day Today/Brass Eye, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Father Ted, Yes (Prime) Minister, Armando Iannucci Show, Monty Python, etc.

Music. Pink Floyd, Sigur Rós, Neutral Milk Hotel, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, The Gypsy Kings, Simon & Garfunkel, Queen, Mozart, Verdi, Beethoven, Puccini, Etc Etc.
The six things I could never do without
1. Babybels
2. Olive trees
3. Exchanging smiles with strangers
On a typical Friday night I am
There's nothing I like better - on Friday or any other night - than sharing some banter and beer, with old or new friends, indulging in borderline-offensive humour or solving at least a couple of major world problems.
When this isn't possible, a book.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I was a child, I wanted to be either a bishop, a bachelor or a hot air balloonist when I grew up. A bishop, because I liked the hat; a bachelor, because I liked the sound of the word; a hot air balloonist - well, I haven't quite given up on that one.
You should message me if
If you want to come with me.
If you want to persuade me otherwise.
If you like peanut butter.
If you use apostraphes impeccably.
If you believe that emotional parity/compatibility is more important than shared interests in a successful romantic match.
If you recognise the building in my photo.
If you want to belie evolutionarily dictated sexual selection strategies and make the first move.
