My self-summary
After a break from the dating world I'm back.

The last year plus has been a period of great growth for me. Although I consider myself an agnostic I feel that I have gotten much more in touch with my (for want of a better word) spiritual side. It's a journey I look forward to continuing alone, with friends and possibly with a partner in crime.

After some years working in tech I found myself having the luxury of being able to take some real time off. I got involved in community. I rode my bike a lot and partied with friends and quietly read by the banks of the Charles river. Time well spent.

I have a weird sense of humor.

I have discovered the benefits of minimalism in my life.

People like me. Just this last weekend I threw a party at my house and 20 people showed up. I love my friends, don't know what I would do without them.

Although I love to be social I am an extroverted introvert - I need time alone to process, meditate and recover. I am often the life of the party but yet can be painfully anxious approaching new social situations).
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to find out how to make my vocation my vacation. Until then I worked, until recently, for a huge internet company.

I'm also still trying to figure out dating. I'm getting better at it I think.
I’m really good at
Keeping informed about things that really don't matter, juggling and making friends.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile. And hopefully not that piece of spinach wedged in between my teeth.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music
I suppose I have a pretty broad range of musical tastes and I will admit to listening to some dreadful music for no reason other then it reminds me of key times in my life (c'mon, is there really any other reason to listen to "We Built This City" by Starship?). But to be honest my memories of sitting by a campfire or at a party with close friends singing as a friend plays guitar are so much richer then any stadium show I have ever attended.

Books. Yes. Recent fave was "The Power of Now"

Movies Yes. Recent fave was Spotlight. A reminder of how a powerful institution (the Catholic Church in this case) could put it's own wants ahead of people who were victims. And a reminder of the importance of journalism in shining a light on these types of crimes.

TV Shows - Recent faves. Walking Dead and Downton Abbey (which is funny because I am not a fan of British period dramas or horror)

I believe in the power of stories. Without them who are we?
The six things I could never do without
1 - Friends (and most of my family)
2 - Utilities (gas/water/electric)
3 - Stories
4 - My various devises that keep me informed, entertained and connected
5 - Beverages (beer, coffee)
6 - You (OK, that was a bit hokie I admit, but it made you smile)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Things I have no control over.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends. Either out or at my place where I am making everyone frozen Margaritas with little umbrellas in them.

Or I am at home alone reading or trying to organize my life
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
First dates still make me nervous
You should message me if
You aren't perfect and would like to hang out with a funny caring entertaining (and ever so slightly neurotic - but in a good way) guy who still needs to lose 10 pounds.
