My self-summary
I'm a laid-back guy who enjoys a wide variety of interests, most of which are related to technology or athletics in some way. I am always seeking out new perspectives to bolster my own and help promote self-growth and my connection with our world and the beings who inhabit it.

I'm a huge nerd, but with an athletic and growth-oriented twist to my persona. I value understanding and the free expression of ideas and have a strong aversion to dogmatism.

Outside of my professional life, you'll find me practicing martial arts, coding/mentoring underrepresented groups of people in tech, playing online games, or out cycling around Boulder.
What I’m doing with my life
I work as a web developer and love it to death, but my passion lies in education. One of the surest ways to empower people is to present them with knowledge and help them generate insight from their experiences implementing that knowledge, so I find it to be one of the most valuable things you can attain.

I'm currently searching for a dojo to call home. I've already trained for seven years in Tae Kwon Do (black belt, 1st dan), but am finding that I reaped a lot more benefits from physically training than simply keeping the mindset present.

I play a lot of current online games (PC titles), Magic, DnD, and am totally down for a game of Secret Hitler any time.
I’m really good at
I'm good at constructing language. Code is language, so it is definitely affected by it.

I have always been athletic. Sports without a ball are my favorites, and I used to compete nationally in track.

Games. I am especially good at shooters and social engineering games.

I'm also bomb at making scrambled eggs and toast. Try me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'll list my top current favorites from each category for the sake of brevity:

Music: Queen, Gorillaz, Jack's Mannequin

Books: Redwall trilogy, The Little Prince, Lord of the Rings

Movies: A Clockwork Orange, LotR: Return of the King, Twelve Angry Men

Shows: Rick and Morty, GoT, Black Sails, FLCL, Cowboy Bebop.

Games: Undertale, Dark Souls, NieR: Automata to name a few favorites. I also play Magic: The Gathering, DnD, WoW, Overwatch, PUBG, etc. regularly with friends.

Food: Salmon, Chocolate Milk, Mashed Potatoes, Spinach salad with strawberries.
Six things I could never do without
I think a better question to ask would be, "What things would significantly impact your life if they weren't present?"

The internet is the biggest one for me. Without it, I wouldn't have a consistent competitive outlet, easy communication with friends in other states/countries, or access to relatively free information about whatever strikes my fancy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I have been thinking about education due to the volatile political climate and how it is so important to a successful democracy that people are properly educated (not just taught facts without context and given busywork to test for said facts instead of generating their own insight from and having to articulate their stance) and for them to be emotionally intelligent.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm either out at Sundown Saloon shooting the shit and playing pool with friends, nerding out at home on the internet talking to friends, or trying to finish up work so I can have the weekend to build curriculum or play games.
You should message me if
You think that someone who is interested in personal growth and improving the world through education and understanding would be someone who you'd like to spend time with.

Please, don't just send me one-word messages. I have a lot of respect for people who break the "social norm" and message/approach the guy first, but say something more than "Hey".
