My self-summary
I'm a friendly and eccentric guy who is eager to engage anyone in lighthearted discourse. I often exhibit a clever and irreverent sense of humor which masks my compassionate streak. I'm frequently looking for an outlet for my creativity.

"Your spirit animal is a drunk guy that doesn't make sense." - JS
"You're an embodiment of chaos who brings order to the lives of others." - The_Veen
"Nothing you could tell me about Loblaw is implausible." - AM
"It's a dumb thing to do, but it's funny." - Me
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an attorney currently in general practice in the Central West End. I'm also renovating my home, getting in better shape, and learning Dutch. Usually twice a week I attend pub trivia.
I’m really good at
I'm often described by friends as fun, hilarious, and ridiculous. I'm very quick witted and always ready with a quip which is frequently pertinent to the topic at hand and sometimes appropriate for the setting and company. I've been told I'm a great cook and people seem to be enthusiastic about eating the results of my efforts. Let me know if you have any good recipes.
The first things people usually notice about me
Above my left forehead I have a shock of white hair that has been expanding since high school. Besides that, I'm a bit notorious for joining the conversations of complete strangers when they are discussing an interesting topic or are mistaken about something.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'll try to be brief, but longer lists are available upon request.
Books: Neal Stephenson, Alan Moore, Umberto Eco, Don Rosa
Movies: Little Miss Sunshine, Screwed, The Usual Suspects, The Fifth Element, The Big Lebowski, Back to the Future, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Empire Strikes Back, Scanners, Videodrome, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Once Upon a Time in the West, Robocop, Groundhog Day, What About Bob, Ghostbusters
Television: Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Community, Reno 911!, True Detective, Bob's Burgers, Bojack Horseman
Music: My favorite band is the Jam, but I also enjoy older ska, older punk, older metal, and classic rock. Almost every musical genre has something to offer. A few bands that come to mind immediately include Dire Straits, Queen, The Clash, Ramones, and any band with Dio.
Six things I could never do without
friends - They are the tangible proof that I love the world and the world loves me.
books - I've been dealing with a backlog of books I have started reading. Currently eleven.
modern communication - Instant information and correspondence are foundational to our current culture.
new ideas - They're everywhere.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Sometimes I'll start laughing for what probably seems like no reason at all to an observer. Often, I'm amusing myself with jokes which, while hilarious, often require a broad range of specific knowledge to appreciate.
When I use a word more frequently and then a few weeks later I start noticing it being used everywhere, it makes me wonder if I am responsible for popularizing it.
On a typical Friday night I am
Getting together with a few friends or looking for a trivia event to attend.
You should message me if
you would like to ask me a question and you feel like it. I'm not your boss.
I prefer being around people who are expressive, warm, and direct. If you are comfortable with sometimes off-kilter humor and share some of my interests, I'd love to hear from you.
