My self-summary
I've been retired five years. I went back to work temporarily and re-retired this spring. I like movies, the MSP Film Festival, Twins games, theater, reading fiction/science, canoeing in the BWCA, and follow politics. Enjoy time with my adult kids, friends and time at the dog park. Not an A-lister.
What I’m doing with my life
Enjoying my free time. Joined the Obama campaign a while back. Good to do more than talk politics again. May be my last year as election judge. If voter ID passes I'll let the supporters of the amendment turn people away.
I’m really good at
Negotiation and advocacy. Electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repair.
The first things people usually notice about me
My beard if it hasn't been trimmed for a while.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Cormac McCarthy,Henning Mankell, Kent Haruf and Richard Ford. Movies: The Swedish Wallander series, Cracker, Prime suspect, Moby Dick, No Country for Old Men and Cedar Rapids. Theater: Guthrie, Firehouse, and Nimbus. Music: Bob Dylan, Blues or Rock and some folk. Ethnic food.
Six things I could never do without
Good health, my kids and grandkids.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Lately been studying prehistory, especially the impact of agriculture on society. Been reading 1491, 1493, Sex at Dawn, Across the Atlantic Ice, and some Scientific American. Also the dysfunctional political system, and the role of potholes in funding mayorial races.
On a typical Friday night I am
When you retire everyday is Saturday so Friday evenings aren't an issue.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Its not for public display, ask me.
You should message me if
you want to meet for coffee or drinks and see if a spark develops.
