My self-summary
I'm a pretty average dude with an overwhelming slice of geek. I have been a gamer since atari 2600, a Star Wars fan since I was 8, reading comics for as long as I can remember, and have always been fascinated by fantasy, mythology, and technology. I'm also somewhat into anime, though I can't think of a series that has piqued my interest since Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
What I’m doing with my life
Figuring things out until I can get a foot in for my real career. I want to be a voice actor/VA director. Chris Sabat is sort of my idol in this area. I guess in the meantime I'm dealing with having the interests of a child with the responsibilities and capabilities of an adult. Sometimes it's awesome, like when I purchased parts and built my own computer from scratch. Other times (bills and trying to be accepting of certain foolish people) it's wretched. All in all, I'm sort of taking what life gives me and making the best I can of it.
I’m really good at
Rattling off random things about characters that most people have never heard of. I also enjoy cooking and debating creationists. I'm a real grab bag of talents, so it's hard to sum them all up in this little box. I'm extremely good at making my opinion heard, even if nobody else agrees with it (quite often among my friends, unfortunately) and a decent writer when an idea strikes.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'd like to say the beard, but honestly probably not much. I try to avoid attracting attention until I'm comfortable with the people around me. After that, I'm very social and talkative, as well as opinionated.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books : The first 5 Harry Potter Books, Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina, The Killing Joke, Green Arrow Year One, I am America and So Can You!, I can't really list this since I love to read (even though I don't do it as much right now) and will basically just list what I've read recently.
Movies : Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Dark Knight, Inception, Akira, Treasure Planet, Pixar's entire Catalogue (sans Cars), The Iron Giant, How to Train your Dragon, The ORIGINAL Star Wars films, the list goes on...
Music : I'm not crazy knowledgeable about music, but love Daft Punk, Johnathan Coulton, Gorillaz, System of a Down, Older Green Day, Skyclad, Finntroll, Foo Fighters, and Queen. I prefer metal or older rock music, but also am discovering a new love for good electronic or techno music.
Food : I'm sort of picky about food, but love Burgers, Pizza, Beef Stroganoff, Spaghetti, Picadillo... Basically food with meat or a hearty sauce. Not a big fan of veggies or cheeses.
Six things I could never do without
My Computer
Someone to talk to
Shoes, or at least socks. Something to cover my feet.
Reading material
Some sort of game, anything really
The potential to learn
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The wonders of the universe, the mysteries of people's minds, and how the hell we as a people will be able to break out of the corporate-run mentality and society we have created and that, if not changed, will eventually destroy us. I imagine fight scenes whenever I enter a place filled with people, imagine survival scenarios, construct my next Pokemon team, and debate the moral consequences of slapping the shit out of the next idiot I see. I have a large range of thought processes, from deep to incredibly menial and geeky.
On a typical Friday night I am
Spending time with my friends in my apartment. My place has sort of become the hub of our group of friends at the moment, so we basically always have someone over.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I love the soundtracks to musicals. Music that tells a story gets major bonus points for me. I also would rather listen to a Rock Opera than pretty much anything else. ESPECIALLY any album released by The Protomen.
You should message me if
You can tolerate and embrace my geekiness and challenge me to be more than I am. That may sound ambitious, but really, it's not such a goal. I get along with intelligent people very well and am open to discussion of basically any point (except religion, as that will lead to a great deal of offense to most people).
