My self-summary
These days I spend most of my time working on graduate school. Mostly switching off between procrastinating and freaking out about how I'm never gonna finish at this rate. From what I gather, that's pretty standard and I should be done soon.

One of my favorite ways to procrastinate is playing guitar, and I can somewhat frequently get at least one other person to play with me, occasionally a full band's worth. I'm a huge fan of music, seeking out live music any time I can find someone decent playing.
What I’m doing with my life
School ties up most of my weekdays, so I often spend the weekends relaxing, watching youtube or Netflix. I also often hang out with friends on the weekend, either out at a bar or at a friend's apartment.

Occasionally I am able to convince people to spend a night drinking and playing music, those are good nights.
I’m really good at
I tend to think of myself as the stupidest smart guy, which I think comes in handy for coming up with simple ways to explain complicated things. Mostly because that is the only way I'll remember them. It winds up being really useful when teaching classes.
The first things people usually notice about me
One time I tried to look intimidating, but nobody believed it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I don't read a lot of non-school related books, though I do read a lot of articles on the internet.

Some of my favorite movies are Garden State, Dan in Real Life, Star Wars (the originals), lots of horror movies (especially zombie movies), Step Brothers, etc.

I mostly listen to a lot of rock music, though I enjoy most types of music. I've given country music many chances, but it's just not for me. Unless you count older stuff like Johnny Cash, he's cool.

Some of my favorite bands are: the Smashing Pumpkins, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, the Silversun Pickups, Manchester Orchestra, Pearl Jam, and the Strokes. The 90's were pretty great. Also, any of John Frusciante's solo stuff (except for some of the crazier heroin fueled songs) is amazing.

Lately I've been listening to: Metric, Wolf Alice, The Joy Formidable, First Aid Kit, Ok Go, Alt-J, and whatever shuffle happens to play.
Six things I could never do without
As of late:
My Laptop
Air conditioning when pants are required
Podcasts when traffic gets bad
Wikipedia to answer all of my random questions
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The future, and how I can be a pioneer in making it brighter and much cooler. And by that I mean I want to do something along the lines of creating a revolutionary new technology, discovering a more complete description of the universe, or just doing the coolest things possible with our current technology.

Also, why does my profile seem so much like a resume...
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends, playing guitar, going out to see some live music, or just catching up on sleep.
