My self-summary
Hey there. I'm Ryan.
Brand new updated profile.
Good guy. Nice guy. A bit rough around the edges; but basically a big ol' teddy bear. I do what I can to make others' lives better. I've seen my share of both joy and heartbreak. I've been both poly and monogamous, both work for me depending on the situation. I've lived a fairly interesting life, and I'm looking for that right someone to share in the interesting adventures to come.
What I’m doing with my life
For over three years I've been working full time at a theatre. I'm employed in the thing I got my degree in! Imagine that! I'm a light and sound guy mostly, but I do a bit a everything in theatre. Sometimes I act, or sing, or write music; I play guitar and mandolin.

I work a lot, many late nights; but that's the cost of doing what you love.

Away from work I'm rooting for the Dodgers and the Chargers. Playing the occasional video game. Or binging a series or two on Netflix.
I’m really good at
Designing lights and soundscapes. Staying up really late. Drinking whiskey. Playing foosball.

Also listening, being understanding, playing devil's advocate, and empathy.
The first things people usually notice about me
My tattoos, I have 9, almost all on my arms, I'm planning my seventh. I'm very big on having original designs that won't be found anywhere else.

I used to wear a lot of hats, but I suppose I've kind of gotten over it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: A lot of punk lately: Black Flag, Rancid, Bad Religion, NOFX, Pennywise, Minor Threat, Fugazi, Dead Kennedys, The Clash, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Blink-182, and Green Day. Also love me some folk/folk rock/folk punk: Blackbird Raum, Ramshackle Glory, Pat the Bunny, Days N Daze, Glen Hansard, Ryan Adams, Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Andrew Jackson Jihad, The Mountain Goats. And just good ol' alternative/classic rock: Our Lady Peace, 30 Seconds to Mars, Beatles, Pink Floyd. Also some more obscure post-rock: Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai, A Silver Mt. Zion, Sigur Ros, and Ventura Indie bands: Franklin for Short, The Return, and Le Meu Le Pur.

Books: 2312, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Galileo's Dream, The Mars Trilogy, The Hyperion Cantos, Catcher in the Rye, The Stranger, On the Road, American Psycho, Rules of Attraction.

TV: Doctor Who, How I Met Your Mother, Walking Dead, Braking Bad, The Wire, Star Trek: TNG, South Park.

Films: Almost anything sci-fi. Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Six things I could never do without
I can make it on very little, just the essentials is all I need. Let me work in my dream career field. Let me listen to and make music. Let me live my life as a poor starving artist. Let me be able to hang out with my cat. I have no plans to live in a mansion, ever. It's more fun this way. Though it would be nice to have someone to share time with in the off hours.

But if I must choose six material possessions...

*my guitar
*my truck
*punk rock
*a smartphone
*comfortable shoes
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The ebb and flow of freeway traffic. Constructing a punk rock musical. Living in a Martian dystopia. Surviving in a post-apocalyptic Earth. Why man created god and how the concept has evolved over thousands of years.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably working, but if not. I'm hanging out with friends, getting a drink or playing guitar and singing to my cat.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've answered well over 1000 questions on OKC. There's some pretty interesting answers in there.
