My self-summary
I'm scientist (a cell biologist), an athlete and former mathlete.
I'm an atheist, a feminist, and an anti-fundamentalist.

I'm an extroverted introvert and a realistic optimist.
I'm a big picture viewer, but I focus on the little stuff.

Well let's see... I think I'm a pretty decent guy. I can be a great listener, and my friends are comfortable opening up to me about anything. I've slowly learned to listen more and give less advice over the years, which did not come naturally.

I've evolved, hopefully for the better, but I realize there's much more to room for me to grow. I expect that process well never really be done.

I've been described as intense which is interesting and I'm not sure it was a complement? This intensity can come out in full force when I'm chasing down a wayward ball in a soccer game or when I'm theorizing about anything science related.

I'm very liberal and have been feeling the Bern for a long long time (I grew up in VT you see, and I even rode a plane with him to Burlington back in 1999 (and yeah he rode coach)). I marched in a gay pride parade back in the early 90s (I was maybe 12?), which was partially organized by my grandfather's church.

Let's see, I dreamed that I would play hockey professionally but quit competitive hockey after three years of juniors and one year of division three college hockey.

And... I'm going to abruptly leave it here for now, but don't be afraid to ask for details!
What I’m doing with my life
I'm in the middle of a life transition. I have less than a year (hopefully) left before I finish my degree and am not entirely sure where Ill be living next summer! I'm thinking Boston or San Francisco areas. Eventually, I hope to be paid a REAL salary so I can afford living there too!

I am working... and working... and working... probably way too hard. But also playing soccer, hockey, and now golf maybe?

I'm constantly debating whether I should drop everything and write that book I've been dreaming about for years. Or maybe, I should return to stone masonry, or both?
I’m really good at
Here are things I do fairly often:
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. This book is something like a bible to me. If you have read this book you'll know a lot about me already. I am almost finished reading the Earth's Children Series (Clan of The Cave Bear etc.) (again). Also currently reading The New Jim Crow and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. Big fan of the Albany Public Library.

TV: soccer or hockey, nature shows, nova specials, documentaries, game of thrones. Trailer Park Boys. Archer. Bob's Burgers. The Daily Show... :((( Colbert Report... :(((

Music: The Band, Old Crow Medicine Show, The string cheese incident, railroad earth etc. Bob Marley, I can listen to almost any genre if it is done well.
On a typical Friday night I am
Rarely rarely party. I don't go to bars usually, except if we can play darts or pool or watch a soccer/hockey game! Late night at the lab? Building kitty food mountain?
