My self-summary
You know, I really like me. Which is maybe weird to say, but Pamela Poovey once said that and she's one of my heroes and plus it's true!

The following, is a random word salad that are ideas I sometimes have.

I believe that America is a beautiful and deeply flawed experiment. It annoys the shit out of me, when people blindly claim that America is the greatest country in the world, and yet I love idea that we are one of the few places in the world where ideas and cultures blend (sometimes poorly) on such a grand scale. Ultimately, I have hope that as a country we'll get is mostly right eventually (though it's taking far too fucking long).

I think, a lot, about like... Everything. It's exhausting... I'm pretty sure the answer to the question: what is the meaning of life? Is: that's the wrong question. I'm pretty sure the better question is: is there a point to life? To which I would say: probably not? Which is really relieving really! I mean what if you lived your life and missed the point?!?! Haha

But seriously I have some crazy ideas about how life came into existence that involves a bunch of shit about entropy, an expanding universe and thermal instability, which ultimately leads to the conclusion that we probably don't have free will and are likely to just be really complex automatons who suffer the illusion that we are in control of our own fate. I mean... Probably, who knows I could be wrong. It really boils down to the question: are all things are knowable? To which I would say: "there is insufficient data for a meaningful answer."

Let's see, what else... I really like being physically active! Soccer, yoga, hockey whatever... Even the gym.

Oh and my name is Scott.
What I’m doing with my life
Science. So so much science.

I am working... and working... and working... probably way too hard. But also playing soccer, hockey, and now golf maybe?

I'm constantly debating whether I should drop everything and write that book I've been dreaming about for years. Or maybe, I should return to stone masonry, or both?
I’m really good at
Here are things I do fairly often:
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. This book is something like a bible to me. If you have read this book you'll know a lot about me already. I am almost finished reading the Earth's Children Series (Clan of The Cave Bear etc.) (again). Also currently reading The New Jim Crow and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. Big fan of the Albany Public Library.

TV: soccer or hockey, nature shows, nova specials, documentaries, game of thrones. Trailer Park Boys. Archer. Bob's Burgers. The Daily Show... :((( Colbert Report... :(((

Music: The Band, Old Crow Medicine Show, The string cheese incident, railroad earth etc. Bob Marley, I can listen to almost any genre if it is done well.
On a typical Friday night I am
Rarely rarely party. I don't go to bars usually, except if we can play darts or pool or watch a soccer/hockey game! Late night at the lab? Building kitty food mountain?
