My self-summary
Hey everyone! I'm a 36-year-old single guy living in San Francisco, looking for a relationship, or just for new friends.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a true midwesterner from Iowa but I've moved around a bit since then. I lived in Washington, D.C. for about 9 years and here in the Bay Area for another 9 years. I moved into San Francisco proper about a year ago.

I'm working as a software engineer at a small company in San Francisco. I love my work, but I'm trying to avoid being a workaholic. I spend a lot of time with friends and do some volunteering for a program in lower-income public schools.

I also like to travel. My last big trip was in October, to Amsterdam, Madrid, and Berlin. Amsterdam and Madrid were great, and Berlin is a fantastic place to visit -- such interesting history, and so much fun. When I'm not traveling myself, I'm often playing "tour guide" for friends and family visiting San Francisco.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm guessing it's the red hair, or my smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: I'm an obsessive music fan. Lots of rock: prog rock like Rush, classic rock, or 90s/modern rock. Occasionally it varies, so sometimes I'll listen to hip-hop by George Watsky, or see the occasional musical, or go out clubbing.

TV: I watch a lot more TV series than I do movies. Right now I'm deep into shows like Homeland, Mr. Robot, and The Flash. Shows like Scandal and Shameless are a lot of fun. So was Looking -- it's a shame they cancelled that.

Food: I love the variety of food available in this part of the country. We have some of the best taquerias around, plus great Indian, Italian, and Asian food. There's so much great coffee around here -- I love exploring new coffee shops in the city, or going to my old standby, Philz Coffee.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out dancing in the Castro. Meeting friends for dinner. Going on a date in the city. Playing poker. On call for work. Going for a run.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a bit geeky, although I don't think I'm too awkward or antisocial. I love guys who are a little geeky too -- comfortable getting deep into C++ or Geddy Lee or Star Wars every so often.
You should message me if
you'd like to make a new friend, chat online, or go on a date. :-)
