My self-summary
Hey everyone! I'm a 37-year-old single guy based in San Francisco. I'm looking for anything from new friends to a relationship.

I'll be in Dublin, Ireland from March 17 to April 7! I'd love to meet people to hang out with while I'm there.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a true midwesterner from Iowa but I've moved around a bit since then. I lived in Washington, D.C. for about 9 years and now I've been in the Bay Area for another 10 years. I moved into San Francisco proper about two years ago.

I'm working as a software engineer and manager at a fast-growing company in San Francisco. I love my work, but I'm trying to avoid being a workaholic. I spend a lot of time with friends and do some volunteering for a program in lower-income public schools.

I also like to travel. My last big trip was in January, when I went to Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Bali. The first two cities were fantastic, and Bali was unbelievably gorgeous and peaceful (especially Ubud in the central part of the island). I've also been to Ireland twice recently for work. When I'm not traveling myself, I'm often going to concerts, or playing "tour guide" for friends and family visiting San Francisco.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm guessing it's the red hair, or my smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: I'm an obsessive music fan. Lots of rock: prog rock like Rush, classic rock, or 90s/modern rock. My tastes do vary, so sometimes I'll listen to hip-hop by George Watsky, or see an occasional musical, or go out clubbing. I go to quite a few concerts and have traveled pretty far to see my favorite bands or artists.

TV: I watch a lot more TV series than I do movies. Right now I'm deep into shows like Homeland, Mr. Robot, and American Crime. Shows like The Flash and Shameless are a lot of fun. So was Looking -- it's a shame that's not still on.

Food: I love the variety of food available in this part of the country. We have some of the best taquerias around, plus great Indian, Italian, and Asian food. There's so much great coffee around here -- I love exploring new coffee shops in the city, as well as the old standby, Philz Coffee.
On a typical Friday night I am
At a rock concert. Meeting friends for dinner. Playing poker. Having drinks with a date at Blackbird. On call for work. Going for a run.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm definitely a bit geeky, although it's a even on the obscure side for geeks. I'm not a gamer but I appreciate guys who are a little geeky too -- who dive passionately into C++ or Geddy Lee or Star Wars every so often.
You should message me if
you'd like to make a new friend, chat online, or go on a date. :-)
