My self-summary
Well before I begin I should say that I'm currently only looking for friends. This way I can focus on getting to know someone for their personality more than their looks. Also, this way I can be myself and I dont have to pretend I'm someone I'm not just to impress someone.

So to sell myself I have to summarize the last 29 years of my life and be as concise as possible?

I like to travel. In 2006 I went on a road trip to Cincinnati for an annual hip hop festival. In 2009 and 2010 I studied in India and China respectively. Last year I spent four months participating in an internship program in DC. Next year I'm hoping to get accepted to the Peace Corp.

I think intelligence is sexy. OK maybe not sexy but definitely attractive. I like to stay inform so I seek out as many news sources as I can. For Online I go to MEDIAITE, DEMOCRACY NOW! The Young TURKS, Russia Today and Al Jazeera. I also just started a subscription to the "Atlantic" and the "Columbia Journalism Review." Right now I'm reading Jeremy Scahill's "Dirty Wars:The World is a Battlefield." Last chapter I read was about how the U.S. used brutal warlords in Somalia to hunt down suspected terrorists. I also blog, on different issues, like black incarceration, Kenyan politics, homosexuality and Christianity, illegal immigration, Sharia law in America, the polarization of the media and the debate over health care reform. I've met a lot of apathetic and boring women in my life it would be nice to meet someone that was a little interest in current events.

I love to learn about people from other cultures. I never really understood why people choose only to socialize with members of their own community. I am completely opposite. I've celebrated Diwali with Indians, shared dinner with Muslims during Ramadan, and volunteered at the Cleveland Asian Festival. I've been to dance clubs that were primarily, black, Latino, Chinese. I love trying ethnically-based cuisine. When I was in D.C. I took advantage of the local Ethiopian restaurants.

In general, I would say I'm pretty extroverted. When I was in D.C. I signed up to 16 meetup groups. It was fun, I won a trip to the Bahamas while speed dating, played charades with an Arabic language group, and got lost trying to find the Saudi embassy at night. Sometimes I socialize too much. When I went to school it would take an hour to get anywhere because I would constantly run into people I knew. I also like to make people laugh. It's generally not a good sign if I can't make a girl laugh on the first date.

In my spare time, I enjoy working out, cooking, reading, dancing, listening to new music, hanging out with friends, or playing with my nephew and niece.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now I work at Target. I've been there for the last seven years. I also volunteer at the International Service Center, working with refugees. Most of the refugees come from Nepal, and some from Liberia and Iraq. I figured it would look good on my Peace Corp application. Ideally I would like to work for the State Department focusing on public diplomacy because all four of my majors (Sociology, Communication, International Relations, Journalism) are related to that field. however if that doesn't work out I plan on using my journalism degree to get a job in the media.
I’m really good at
Making people laugh.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm blunt.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Lets start off with music. I'm a huge indie hip hop fan. There is a rap song about everything and anything. I would probably give up sex before hip hop. Some of my favorite artist include Sage Francis, MURS, Brother Ali, Slug, and Immortal technique. I also enjoy listening to trip-hop or instrumental hip hop like RJD2, Madlib, Flying Lotus and Nujabes.

Of course this doesn't mean I only listen to hip hop, I also other genres as well. If the song has an intense emotional harmony or a hypnotic sounding beat I'm hooked.
