My self-summary
Funny, smart, passionate, honest, kind, particular order...circumstance determines which characteristic shines brightest at any given time.

I have to say, I'm getting a kick out of this site. I like the "ya'll got problems" warning it provides when you view a bad match, and the % Enemy rating. Hilarious. I also like browsing the questions as answered by a potential match. Many questions are lame, but overall I think they achieve the goal, which is revealing stuff we might not think to write in our little self-summaries. Not knowing the Sun is bigger than the Earth is about as big a deal breaker as I can think of! :o) So is thinking the ancient mythology known as creationism should be taught alongside science in our schools. And...thinking the current dismal state of gun control laws in our country is just peachy will not get you a date. :o)
What I’m doing with my life
Well, looking for you among other things. Those other things include being the best uncle I can, giving my rescue puppies and cats the best life possible, constantly learning/exploring, seeking adventures, and just generally trying to squeeze the most out of every single day because I firmly believe this life is all there is...and I'm fine with that.
I’m really good at
Listening, empathizing, improvising, fixing things (cars, houses, boats etc.), putting others first, caring, leading, following, sharing, procrastinating, kissing, and bedroom stuff.
The first things people usually notice about me
My light blue eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Book - Sirens of Titan and anything else by Vonnegut, anything by Tom Robbins, Mark Twain etc. Movies - The Notebook, Dances with Wolves, The Princess Bride, American Beauty. TV shows: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Colbert Report, Survivor, a variety of news programs, The Office. Music - Mumford and Sons, Josh Ritter, Xavier Rudd, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, The Low Anthem, Avette Brothers. Food - Yes
Six things I could never do without
My critters, my friends, a boat, warm water to swim in, music, adventure...and the bonus number 7 to demonstrate I'm a rule breaker...a recipient for my love (role currently filled by 2 puppies and 2 cats).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How I might make the world a profoundly better place, even if it's just for a few people or animals my life brushes into. Politics and religion. I'm liberal and agnostic. You should be too. All the very best humans are.
On a typical Friday night I am
Home watching a movie with my dogs and cats, at times from my hot tub in the rain. Occasionally out on a date. Often somewhere I can view the sunset. Sometimes camping on a beach, or a mountain top, or a river valley. Other times out floating on a lake in my houseboat and gazing at the stars while sitting by the fire.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Once in a while a really touching movie, or an incredibly beautiful piece of music can bring tears to my eyes.
You should message me if
You like what you see and read, and if you honestly think that I will feel the same way. Or...if you are very attractive and just have to have me no matter what. That's another good reason I suppose. Or if you like this:
Here's my fantasy first date:
We meet at a nice cozy place, with live acoustic guitar and singing in the background. We instantly sense the sparkle and sizzle of unmistakable chemistry. You give me a light hug as we greet, and I feel your warmth flow through me like summer sunshine. All this instant attraction makes us a bit nervous at first, but after some funny stumbling and a drink we are chatting and laughing like old friends. We agree appetizers are in order, and enjoy sharing them over more happy banter, discovering our mutual interests and convictions. As our excitement of discovery builds, neither of us wants to go, but we both have commitments to attend to, so part we must. As we pass through the door, you shyly step closer leaning gently against my side, and my arm naturally encircles your waist as I walk you to your car. Like we're already lovers, you turn to me when we arrive and our first gentle kiss begins softly & tenderly, though we both know we want more, much much more. Time seems to stop for both of us, and the world disappears, as you sweetly whisper in my ear....

Or we could go bowling. Your call.
The two of us
