My self-summary
So, hi!

I will start by saying THANK YOU OKCupid for finding me the most wonderful man in the entire world. Literally, world, cause I looked overseas on a chance and there he was, in my beautiful Wales, my wonderful Scientist84. For those of you still looking, this site is marvelous, and do keep looking! Answer the questions! Those matches are eerily accurate!

My name is Sara (Sah-rah, not Seh-rah) and I am a geek of many varieties: I obsess over music, history and folklore, and even enjoy doing math/logic problems for fun on a Friday Night.

I got my Masters from IU in December '06. I know, "I spent MONEY to get a degree in MUSIC?!?! I'll be broke FOREVER!" but I'm slowly but surely paying things off and getting a savings account! I love to dance- swing is my thing, leading or following, but I've learned some Belly Dance, cause it's a great workout! It makes me hurt everywhere in muscles I didn't know I had. I have always wanted to do more formal ballroom, but I've only had lessons here and there, but I'm told I can synch up and follow pretty well. I'm also known to have no fear or shame and to randomly dance to canned oldies at the grocery store, or attempt the limbo, though on roller skates, I'm just begging for bodily injury. So long as it's not smokey, I'll go to just about any place and dance! Same with singing. I'm a pretty darn good singer, if I do say so myself, and I run a cappella groups, a madrigal group, most recently I am a featured singer with the Stardusters Jazz Band! I'm also a gamer geek who likes to dress up in pretty dresses and corsets and pretend to be an elf. Ok, it's a little more complicated than that, but hey. I love Music, Theatre, Dance, and really all of the performing and visual arts.

Most people who know me consider me very sardonic, a little overcommitted with all the activities I do, but if I don't do something useful or expressive every day, I get mopey, and no one likes that. I lived in a town during my first job stint as a middle school choral director where I would probably have considered myself one of the most intelligent people there, but I don't really know if that that means much. It really was *that* bad. I know very little about sports save that balls seem to have a homing device fixed on my nose, and that a football mostly looks like a big lemon that has sat in your fridge too long. I used to love baseball though, and well, what Welsh Girl like me doesn't like Soccer!

I am passionate, geeky, and musical.
What I’m doing with my life
While I am still working all the details out, I am a music teacher. I've taught elementary, middle school, high school, and undergraduate music classes, so I love it all. I actually WANTED to teach middle school (I'm nuts, I know) but in order to get a job close to the culture of people I like (like those in Bloomington, IN) I had to take an elementary job.
Currently, I'm not teaching, because I got vocal nodes (scary) and I am instead working selling books to authors. It's actually really fun, cause I get to talk to a wide variety of wacky creative people every day, and it leaves time for my nighttime job of singing with a fantastic jazz band, and doing Karaoke every Monday night.
I’m really good at
whatever I put my mind to. :)
Singing expressively, teaching, inspiring, acting, cooking the few dishes I know how to make well, flirting, costuming, saying that thing that makes everyone in the room go, "hrmmm?"
The first things people usually notice about me
I am an insatiable flirt, and kinda adorable when I wanna be, and sometimes when I don't.
I have wicked curly hair.
I sing all the damn time!
I like attention.
I am very friendly and don't like the thought that anyone might be upset when there's something I can do to fix it.
I babble when I'm nervous.
I'm passionate about what I do.
New:***I'm head over heels in love***
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books (picking 3 is tough, but I could go on...): The Weirdstone of Brisingamen, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Harry Potter (cheesy I know)
Movies: Yellow Submarine, Clue, Star Trek (the new one) and so many more
TV shows: Red Dwarf, the Monkees, Supernatural, Buffy, Angel, Flirefly, M*A*S*H, Star Trek (any of them), QI, Whose Line is it Anyway
Music: The BEATLES! Moxy Fruvous, They Might Be Giants, Ben Folds Five, Dot Dot Dot anything a cappella, from Renaissance Madrigals to Rockapella, JAZZ like Diane Schurr, Ella, Glenn Miller, and those other greats, and even some Western Art music like composers whose names end in "Itch" and "Ski" and some dead German guys. I'm also an ethnomusicologist.
Six things I could never do without
The people I love, My voice (which I thought I was going to lose once! Scariest thought ever!), Things that create/play music, Work to do that makes me feel productive, LARPing, my Heritage (I'm VERY proud of being Welsh)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the music I would like to write
the RPGs I am in, cause I love creating stories!
the work I need/want to get done
I also think about the things that scorpios are known for thinking about a lot. (I told you I was a flirt. Just being honest.)
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out in a costume pretending to be a hot elf chick, or performing with my Jazz band, singing Blues Brothers numbers, or possibly just watching a movie with some friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
There are some words that just make me cry, like "home" or "food," or even "love," because I can't stand to think that there are people in the world who don't have those things.
You should message me if
you can figure out how to do it! I am pretty technology stupid sometimes. :)
You are up for musicking, geeking, or babbling in Welsh. I am off the market dating-wise, but I can still be pretty fun to hang out with, I'm told!
Peace, Love and Tofu!
