OC native, atypical OC man; I'm an entertaining, fairly virtuous ambivert. Having had to face my own mortality in the past means I'm ambitious, grateful and persistent in the present and future. Excellent communication is very important to me.
INFJ (nearly xNxx)
Strength Finder 2.0: input, ideation, intellectualization, woo, connectedness.
Once every week or two I volunteer, hit a networking night at a restaurant/bar or a major game studio, and see a group of friends. On nights in, I'm staying in touch with distant friends via Skype, emails and FB; enjoying shows via Hulu or Netflix or playing a game.
I love deep conversations and making connections of all kinds (between subjects that don't have an obvious link, people, etc.). Self-improvement and lifelong learning are my jams!
I'm a cerebral guy who is getting more active. 30 pounds lost so far through eating changes! Did my first boot camp in March since that's an area I need external motivation in; if you want be my workout partner, cool (personal trainer or coach, even better)!
On personal beliefs, I think assertive discussion is great, but that everyone has to decide what he or she believes and should not judge others. If everyone minded their own business 95% of the time, I think we'd live in a happier world. I heard Emma Watson's call and became a #HeForShe
Quoting others here, I've been called passionate, loyal, funny, adventurous, creative, resourceful, charitable, and courageous. I'm aware I have flaws, some to accept, some to fix. Mindfulness is great.
Starting conversations with anyone, from a person who is homeless to a CEO, bored line neighbor at the DMV to a celebrity ("Pics or it didn't happen?" Oh, I've got pics.). Seeing something positive in any situation. Being honest and candid. Loving thy neighbor. Aspiring to always stay objective and fair. Integrity.
Getting on the radio (NPR/KPCC, KROQ. Winning prizes once or twice a year (some of its on video, if you know where to look on Engadget or GeekNation).
Creative and resourceful fun-making or problem-solving, like the MacGuyver-next-door (although I'm nowhere near as cool as Michael Westin).
Massage. Deep conversations.
I love learning, puns, NPR and KPCC (I seem to have a knack for getting on the air), helping or teaching others, good conversation, social games and quality television, films and books. Hulu and Netflix are my indoors entertainment sources, along with a Wii and laptop (Hearthstone, WoW, League of Legends).
Boring stuff: technical writing, analysis, computation, trivia, copy editing and explaining things to various audiences. Dealing with customer service people.

That they aren't sure what my ethnicity is. Or that I can sound like John Cusack or Vince Vaughn. I've been told a few times I should do radio (not because of my face).
Que ellos no saben mi pertenencia étnica. Un mujer joven pensó que soy Árabe, o Mexicano... pero ella es de Ingleterra y es posible ellos no tienen muchos Asianos y medio-Asianos alla.
The Sandman by Neil Gaiman, The Watchmen, The Sword of Shannara, Lord of the Rings, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, The Chronicles of Narnia, Fables and Jack of Fables, Star Wars
I think I'm overdue to check out Terry Pratchett and Terry Goodkind.
Self-improvement and nonfiction books: Working (by Studs Terkel). Radical Forgiveness
(B) I've seen TOO MANY great movies to play favorites!
If it is an Oscar-winner, Oscar-nominee, has an A-list actor (or director) or is a cult classic, I've probably seen it or would love to see it. Comedy, Drama, Sci-Fi, and Fantasy are my favorite genres. Horror is okay now and then.
An attempt at a short list: Lord of the Rings, The Boondock Saints, The Shawshank Redemption, Star Wars IV-VI, Pretty Woman, The Princess Bride, Shaolin Soccer, Serendipity, Léon/The Professional, The Hangover, Get Smart, Braveheart, The Spanish Apartment/L'Auberge Espagnole, Die Hard Quadrilogy, The Bourne Trilogy, The Last of the Mohicans, The Departed, Avatar; anything by Joss Whedon, Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino
Side note: I met one of The Boondock Saints once, then learned the saying, "never meet your heroes".
(C) Music I listen to almost everything and have few "favorites" (Queen); anything that pleases the ear or has a message. Classical or techno when I need to read or write, otherwise whatever music suits my mood or whatever mood I want the music to induce in me. CONCERT-wise I've seen Muse, Coldplay, Beck, 311, Rob Zombie, Save Ferris, Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Blink 182, The Killers, Garbage and The Black-Eyed Peas.
(D) Food: I'll try anything once and like most everything enough to try it again. I grew up with excellent Chinese food straight out of the kitchen, so I never usually go out for Chinese, although Sam Woo's porks and duck are always yummy! Steak and Pizza= guilty pleasure. I'm a bit of a foodie. I like to know both the hidden gem "hole in the wall"-s and the frugal happy hours/discount nights at good places.
(E) Drink: One that tastes good. Why should getting buzzed or drunk taste bad? I drink girlie drinks because I know what I like--it's like having the cajones to wear pink. Non-Alcoholic: Jamba Juice, Asian teas, cherry coke, cherry 7-up, boba.
(F) TV Shows: LOVE The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and [The Colbert Report]]
Currently watching Castle, White Collar, Royal Pains, Burn Notice, Arrow, Community ("Shirley" is fun to Tweet with and so pleasant.)
Catching up via Netflix on: Doctor Who, Top Gear (U.K.), Mythbusters (I've met one of them three times so far--great guy.)
Past loves: Sherlock, FIREFLY, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Buffy (so, my friends say I'm kind of a SD Comic-Con micro-celeb thanks to Buffy... and there's video to prove it!), Angel, Star Trek, Naruto, Samurai Champloo, HEROES (early seasons, although I've met Brea Grant she's so nice), Adult Swim, Star Wars, ER, Law and Order, JAG, Stargate, BATTLESTAR GALACTACA, SOUTH PARK
Update: The best Hulu™ has to offer! To name some others, House, Scrubs, ER, Grey's Anatomy, Dexter, Dead Like Me, Chuck, How I Met Your Mother, BURN NOTICE, Merlin, Defying Gravity (sadly another one-seasoner).
Internet: TEDTalks, The Guild (Felicia Day is a sweetheart IRL) There Will Be BRAWL; Zero Punctuation
Back in the 80's: A-Team, Charles in Charge, M.A.S.K., Smurfs, G.I. Joe, The Snorks, The Jetsons, The Flintstones
(G) Comedy Troupes, Comedians: Dave Chappel, Eddie Izzard, Others Whose Names Will Come To Me Later, SNL, Monty Python, Live Nudes With Clothes On. Weird Al Yankovic. THE LONELY ISLAND.
(H) Video Games:
Hearthstone (I can teach you, but I'd have to charge)
Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Mario Kart 8
WarCraft III, Diablo III, StarCraft II
(I) Board, family, card games:
Have: Dominion, Settlers/Seafarers of Catan, Cards Against Humanity, Ruse
Have but haven't yet opened: World of WarCraft Adventure Game, Lords of Waterdeep
Have enjoyed: Apples to Apples, Battlestar Galactaca, Acquire, Connect Four, Guillotine, Ticket to Ride, Munchkin, Bang!, San Juan/Puerto Rico, Agricola, Wheedle, Too Many Cooks
World travel! I've been to Taiwan, China, S. Korea so far. I want to go to Japan (bring me back lots of brand new fans), Singapore, and Europe. I've driven route 66 from LA to Chicago, and visited my Grandpa in Lima, Ohio and my aunt in Jacksonville, Indiana (I think it's in Indiana). I'd love to hit every contintent eventually--if I win the lottery, every COUNTRY. I wonder if anyone's ever done that. Surely someone already made it their life's ambition.
Also a lot of the topics all humans think about. You know the ones ;-) If you don't, look at any five other profiles and see what most have in common here.
Cliché but true: The meaning of life. (Update, 2010: I figured this out years ago: connections and how to handle them artfully.)
Right now Monday night and Wednesday night are my 'weekend evenings', but my boss is fairly accommodating on shifting off days. I'm most likely playing board and cards games once a week with friends and professional cohorts.
Anything you're brave enough to ask I will answer, but you have to reciprocate. ;-)
You can state "obvious" things in a neutral manner that somehow wasn't obvious to the person you're talking with. You see forests more than trees usually, but can appreciate me who too often is stuck marveling over trees. (Tunnel-vision metaphor.)
There's something unique/weird/quirky about you.
You're mindful, a foodie, and not elitist.
BONUS POINTS IF:
You've met someone "offline" before
You enjoy driving (or at least don't get anxiety from it).
You love to cook (or you'll cook if I do the dishes; or I'll shop if you chop).
You know your strengths and weaknesses, accept them, and communicate them.
You enjoy humor of all types (ergo you don't get offended easily). You enjoy learning and evolving.
You play Hearthstone Heroes of the Storm or League of Legends (or want to learn).
