My self-summary
I spend a lot of time on reading, thinking, enjoying art, theorizing, literature and such-like, enjoy walking around the botanical gardens and the parks. My friends see me as someone with a wicked and sharp sense of humor, extraordinarily diverse in things I have done, and with an enormous appetite for learning. I enjoy my alone time but also like talking and relaxing with friends. I often unleash my curiosity by reading up on many topics.

Recently I sat down and thought about what I would offer a woman as a mate. As I tallied up my assets I came to believe that I make quite a catch. I am incredibly vibrant and active. Far from being stolid or set in my ways at 66, I have a great deal of gusto for life. I have a interesting background, am well educated, well-traveled and retain a keen interest in learning and doing. I have earned a reputation among my friends as a steady hand and someone they can count on. I contribute to my community with my time - the most valuable resource of all. I would like someone to partner with, to share a life of learning, laughter, love, poetry and art - in sum, an exciting romantic life with my hearts desire beside me.

I find ideas and new concepts to be exhilarating. Intellectual forays into new theories are where I shine. I don't live in my head though, and ultimately I believe theories have to be grounded in the real, mundane workaday world. I'm not afraid of the word epistemology - but I do like to find practical uses for knowledge.

I am funny, bright, and creative, but can bring a lot of focus to any project that catches my interest. My personality is generally very outgoing - I'm the classic Irish personality in that I've never met a stranger - they are just friends that I hadn't known I'd had before, lol. But I also have my deeply intellectual side. I've experienced a lot in life - war, world travel, romance, parenthood, catastrophe and recovery, so I can safely say that it's been interesting - if grueling sometimes.

So far as politics go, I'm all over the place. I've grown past the point where conventional labels are appropriate. I mean, would you go to a restaurant that had only two choices on the menu? How boring! I have friends of all varieties of opinion, even one or two that choose to watch Fox News. I try not to judge - and am generally successful.
