After a nice 15 year streak of no roller coaster action, I recently visited California's great America. Hoping, for the sake of my companions, that this time I might enjoy being strapped into a small metal car that travels 30 feet in the air, at high speeds, on a rickety track, with my precious life in the hands of a teenager.
I tried it.
I rode the Grizzly.
I got in line with many excited grown ups and children over 48 inches tall. As they admired the vehicle of our potential doom, I planned my survival strategy. Buckle tight, engage the death grip. One hand clutching the person beside me and the other on any handle type appendage available. Close eyes and hope for the best.
I didn't enjoy it.
When not at an amusement park, I am a fun person to be around - Adventurous, spontaneous with an easy-going disposition.
But I ain't gonna be snuffed out by a thrill ride. I'll settle for a Merry-go-round and long long boring life!
