My self-summary
I've lived in Dallas for several years, but there's still so much I haven't seen or done yet. That goes for my whole life, really.
What I’m doing with my life
I have a pretty intense job but it's not the only thing that's important to me. I also sing in a choir, make jewelry, and practice yoga.
I recently traveled to Spain and have been thinking about how I can go back. Though I think I want to visit Brazil next.
I’m really good at
Making banana daiquiris, speaking in public.
The first things people usually notice about me
My laugh
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like books and movies about time travel. Donnie Darko, The Time-Traveler's Wife (book only, the movie was terrible), etc. Most recent favorite book is The End of Mr. Y by Scarlett Thomas. Currently reading The Goldfinch and really enjoying it. Past influential favorites: American Gods, The Illuminatus Trilogy!, House of the Spirits, Promethea, Women of the Golden Dawn (nonfiction), Rumi, PKD, May Sarton, Mary Daly.
I just saw Chef with John Favreau; loved it, especially the soundtrack. I will always watch Almost Famous or The Graduate. I love Josh Whedon stuff (especially Buffy) and other past and current favorites are Twin Peaks, Deadwood, Mad Men (I'm only on Season 3; no spoliers!), Carnivale, Six Feet Under, Veronica Mars, Orange Is The New Black, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Lost, Nashville (the music is really good!). I find Law and Order reruns to be very soothing.

I love lots of different types of music, but adore rocksteady, vintage ska, reggae, and dub. I also love folk, Americana, tropicalia, and Celtic stuff. As well as Neko Case, The Civil Wars, The KLF, Magnetic Fields, Grimes, Brooke Candy, Shakira, Anonymous 4, Fleetwood Mac, The Smiths, Simon and Garfunkel, Joanna Newsom, Kate Bush, David Byrne, Cocteau Twins, Robert Earl Keen, and Rush, among others.
I love Mexican, Thai, and Indian food, but I also like to cook a nice pot roast every now and then.
Six things I could never do without
Books, cats, tunes, lip balm, almonds, my Brita pitcher.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Music, metaphysics, the people I love, thought experiments, how to be better at my job, how to be a better person, how to keep things interesting.
On a typical Friday night I am
Winding down with friends at Good friend, or the Belmont, or at a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Yeah, no.
You should message me if
You like exploring, unusual music, karaoke, or intelligence, and you appreciate Russ Meyer's ideal female form over, say, Tarantino's. ;)
