My self-summary
Okay, where to begin? I suppose I should say that I am reserved, athletic, thoughtful, and more than a bit of a nerd. I'm really good with movie quotes and I have a sense of humor that works off of puns and historical references. I enjoy discussing and debating but particularly love the quiet and calm moments. I try to take care in everything that I say because I hate giving false impressions, I have been accused of being too thoughtful in the past. But there are a whole bunch of things that are so much more fun to show to people than to explain to them.
What I’m doing with my life
I am working at a technology company as a Business Analyst/Project Manager. Hopefully somewhere in between all of this I find enough things and people to live, laugh, learn, and love with.
I’m really good at
being a sounding board for other people's ideas and positions. I listen carefully and thoughtfully and always make sure to think things through before I give a response. Instead of derailing someone's train of thought I help nudge it and maintain it. Which also makes it great for punctuating a moment of seriousness with random humor. When in doubt try to laugh, it is much more cathartic than crying.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am fairly tall, so there is that. I have also been told that I usually have an expression that looks like I'm thinking about a riddle. So Resting Riddle-Face?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Food:
I love Thai, Mexican, Italian, and good old American the most. I always willing to try different styles of cooking too.

Music:
I am a big fan of all kinds of music. Rock, Metal, Acoustic, Alternative, Jazz, and Classical to give a good sense of the variety I enjoy. So anywhere from Lindsey Stirling to Metallica I suppose. Although Celtic music holds a special place in my heart.

Shows:
I have not had time to watch that much TV but I love the West Wing, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, Marco Polo and Dr. Who. I also LOVED Scrubs, Dr. Cox is my hero. I also enjoy adultswim shows like The Venture Bros and other comedies like Archer and Futurama. I'm also a fan of some anime like Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist.

Movies:
There are far too many to list here. And of course the type of movie that I enjoy watching will be suitable to the kind of day it is. I think my favorite genre is psychological thrillers or mysteries. The genre that I dislike the most is gore-fest horror movies. I could go on and on talking about movies with someone where we dissect plot elements and character motivations.

Off the top of my head some of my favorite movies are Serenity, Lord of the Rings, The Martian, Inception, The Usual Suspects, The Princess Bride (Inigo Montoya is everything I want to be in life) and The Great Escape

Books:
I am a HUGE bookworm. It would be quicker to list my favorite authors than to name the books: Jim Butcher, Patrick Rothfuss, Brandon Sanderson, and George R. R. Martin. Recently I have developed an interest in older novels and have started to read books by Issac Asimov and Richard Feyman. I am a big fan of science fiction and high fantasy novels. This is another topic that I would enjoy discussing for hours with fellow fan. I also read a bit outside those genres like The Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan. Currently listening to an audio book of "My Early Life" by Winston Churchill. Also have lately been reading a lot of history dealing with WWI. How much the world changed because of it is almost endless in scope and is something I enjoy discussing with my friends.
The six things I could never do without
- A friend I can trust
- Family that looks out for you
- A book series to dive into and devour
- The best Chicago food (Lou Malnati's, Chicago style hotdogs, Al's Italian Beef, Kuma's Corner)
- Having the opportunities to learn something new constantly
- Proudly being a nerd with my friends. Strategy games, card games, psychological games abound. Basically if the game involves out thinking your friends in amusing ways it is likely we play it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The perils of making a first impression, I'm still figuring out how to pull that off. What to add to my reading list.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with my friends. Which usually involves having bonfires, playing any given type of game with good food and beers, hiking, camping, or spending the night out and about
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a problem over thinking and analyzing things. Which is why I find bluntness so refreshing and attractive I suppose.
You should message me if
Any of this piqued your interest and you would like to learn more. I know a little about a lot and a lot about a little, and what I would like to know most is if you have liked what you read and have not messaged me, why?
