My self-summary
I'm seeing someone now, and I'm very happy.

I have a feeling I will update this later when I am in a clever mood. For now I can say I am single, never married and no kids, I love reading and movies and making things. I go through phases of going out, but right now I enjoy staying in. How do you meet people you have things in common with if you like to stay in? Music is a big part of my life. I grew up with music on all the time, so that is what I am used to. It was quite a shock when I realized not everyone was like that. I get my news from the Daily Show. I am a gamer. I admit to being lost to MMORPG's for long spans of time, but right now I mostly play browser games, and Wii if I have the energy, ha! I spend a lot of time making things for my shop, watching movies, hanging with cats.

I am funny, sharp, and quiet
What I’m doing with my life
okay, i'm finally updating my profile. I Still work for the City (of Seattle). I used to work for Human Services (note, NOT hiring people; more like immigration programs, early learning, family centers, etc). Now I work for Weights and Measures, and I have a job I LOVE: Taxi regulation. Sure, it may sound boring, but it's amazing. I love the people i work with, I love the actual work, the population I deal with every day is interesting and challenging. I am great at my job, I rock my work product, and I'm good with people. I am super satisfied.

I also have a jewelry business, mostly online. I don't do it because I love jewelry (I rarely even wear any), but because I am good at running a business.
I’m really good at
Things that are concrete. Spreadsheets. Research. Sandbox games. Picking out gifts. Advice. Money management. I'm a nerd, you get the idea.
I'm also creative in a bunch of ways. I like painting, sewing, embroidery, woodworking, bookbinding. I like knowing the roots of stuff, and doing it myself.
The first things people usually notice about me
Maybe you should tell me what you notice. I have a feeling since I am quiet, the thing people will notice is my clothes or my hair. I wear a lot of color, and sometimes my hair does too.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
These things are important. Why does okcupid think it's okay to group them all together? Okay, I can deal with boundaries. I love movies made by brothers: Coen brothers, Polish brothers, theres another duo I will have to remember.
P.T. Anderson, Wes Anderson, too many.
I also love Black Books, Futurama, Adventure Time, too many to list.

I have many books and many favorites. My three favorite books are Invitation to a Beheading, Confessions of Zeno, and The Mezzanine. Right now I am reading this:

I don't know how to begin on the music part. I grew up with an amazing dad who taught me how important music was. A quick list of some of my favorites (not not even close to complete): vic thrill, dirty projectors, das racist, nick lowe, XTC, sparks, costello, tom waits, queen, the folksmen, mc chris, t-rex, talking heads, modern lovers, michael penn, housemartins, starlight mints, jackson 5, jon brion, kinks, decemberists, eels, roxy music, roy harper, futureheads, devendra banhart, sam phillips, raconteurs, franz ferdinand, al stewart, grant lee phillips, dandy warhols, cockney rebel, squeeze, ohio express (chewy chewy!), adam ant, bowie
Six things I could never do without
internet connection, tea, XTC, the color orange, my dad's influence, humor
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time thinking, period. This changes constantly. Right now I guess some of the big things are like dealing with this age and wondering if I am on the right track or not. That sounds dumb maybe but every single girl I grew up with has a child. Every one. Am I lucky? Smart? Careful? Some people have almost scolded me on it, like I'm behind. If my goal was to not have children yet, I feel like I was successful! Long story short, with the right person and right timing, having kids would be perfect. And if it was the wrong person and/or the wrong timing, it would be a no. I would never have a baby for the sake of having one. I think girls spend more time thinking about this than guys, but this is honestly what I have been thinking about.
I also spend a lot of time thinking about video games, books I'm reading, things I want to sew or make, and keeping in touch with everyone that lives far from me, which is everyone.
I also like to think about where things came from. This is an understatement, because I have come to understand this is a big underlying part of my personality. I am really into etymology and constantly look words up. I own several books on the history of language, of which I am fascinated. I majored in Anthropology. My biggest non-career passion is evolutionary psychology.
On a typical Friday night I am
At home, watching Netflix, comfortable on my great couch. I am almost always making something while doing something else. Even when I'm relaxing I'm a multitasker.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't drive, and I will never drive. I don't have a driver's license. I won't get one. Don't try to convince me to get one.

Oh hell, i can admit all sorts of things, but does that make them private? I like certain things for comfort, mostly watching shows. I like to watch a show all the way through to it's entirely. I have watched things like the Simspons and Futurama from back to front a few times. I do other things while it's on, but it's comforting to have it on. Also while I fall asleep. Certain things like Futurama movies I have fallen asleep to dozens of times.
You should message me if
anything about me interests you. You just read like maybe 2% of who I am, you know?
