My self-summary
Me in a nutshell:

I'm a northern transplant, who frequently feels a little out of her element here in the south. I'm rather shy with strangers. I choose my words carefully and laugh too loudly. I'm more of a dog person than a cat person, though I love animals in general. I get equally excited about camping trips as I do about getting dressed up for a Broadway show. I live to travel, and haven't done nearly enough of it. I try to keep an open mind about all things, I'm very liberal, and I care intensely about human rights. I don't subscribe to any particular religious faith but I tend to think of myself as a spiritual person. I probably believe in unicorns. I love excuses to dress up, to throw a party, or take part in pretty much any festivities. I'm the kind of person who would decorate for every holiday.

I'm a bit of a hopeless romantic, a little bit neurotic, sometimes too honest, and completely desperate to live grand adventures.
What I’m doing with my life
As I'm exiting my 20's, I am for the first time in my life, taking my career, education, and direction that my life is headed in general seriously.

Which finds me working full time and being in school full time. I'm sort of in the process of mapping out the rest of my life, and working towards half a dozen goals. I've also tired of the concept of "dating around" and I'm hoping very seriously to be working towards making meaningful connections with other humans.

Basically, I'm finding myself, bettering myself, and simply trying to experience all that life has to offer.
I’m really good at
Making lists and planning.

Listening. So much so that my sister claims hearing is my super power.

Stretching out awkward silences.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am often super quiet. I've gotten a lot of feedback from people after we've become friends, to the effect that people frequently misread my slight social anxiety as me not liking them. It's something of a curse.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - Sci-fi/fantasy, horror, mythology, etc. Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, various Stephen Kings, everything Roger Zelazny, lots of Tanith Lee, The Last Unicorn, The Hunger Games, Watership Down, the Amber series, The Descent

Shows - Game of Thrones, iZombie, Gilmore Girls, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, The Simpsons

Music- Marina & the Diamonds, Kiss, Aerosmith, Muse, Incubus, Melanie Martiniez, Frou Frou, Metric, Fleetwood Mac, Maroon 5, The Pierces

The six things I could never do without
Here in Sc, my first thought is always AC. I do not do well in the heat. Good things to read, good people to talk to, and good food are also on the list. And since I live about a 12 hour drive from the majority of the people who matter most to me in the world, some form of long-distance communication is a must.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Traveling and places I want to visit/see, plans I want to make, getting a puppy (even though I can't really at the moment), homework, whatever book I'm reading or have recently finished...
On a typical Friday night I am
For the past 7-ish years, I've actually been working the night/weekends shift. At the time that I'm writing this, I'm about two months into a normal daytime hour job, so I haven't yet adjusted to having Friday nights free or the getting up early thing. Right now, most Friday nights will find me at home napping or being lazy on the couch watching netflix/hulu because the work week has made me feel like a zombie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have some driving-phobia. Basically, I hate driving. I avoid the highway like the plague, and most of the time when I'm going places/doing things, I'm hoping someone else will be willing to drive. Obviously, I have a car and a license and drive myself to work daily. I get where I need to go, I just tend to get a lot of anxiety about driving out of my usual routine.

It's kind of weird, I guess, and it kind of embarrasses me to tell people, which is why you find it here in this particular section :p
You should message me if
- You fit the "what I'm looking for" criteria on the side of my profile. With the exception of "near me" being kind of subjective.

-We have a high match percentage. I've answered way, way too many of those questions but at this point it seems like that percentage is actually a decent indicator of who I might get along with.

-You're intrigued by anything you found here...

-You're something of a nerd, because it turns out I apparently kind of have a "type" :p

-If I've been stalking your profile, because I'm probably trying to come up with that ominous first message thing, and failing.
