My self-summary
I enjoy the company of friends, spirited conversations, good movies, and delicious tacos. "Why on earth," you might be asking "is he opening by distinguishing himself with things that everyone on the planet enjoys?" Well, step off, man! Ain't no law against liking popular things. I think it was probably Gandhi who said: "being true to yourself is the most special thing of all the things you can be."

I'm also a bit of a geek. I used to earn my street cred with my yearly pilgrimage to the San Diego Comic-Con.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a new-ish Austin resident, still exploring what the city has to offer.

As far as important stuff goes, I always make time for friends, and I've been hosting board game gatherings. Also I'm trying to work on my ability as a writer. I'm just an amateur now, but it is my fervent hope that with hard work and practice, I could someday call myself an professional amateur.
I’m really good at
Humility. Friends are constantly mentioning how impressively little credit I take for my many other talents, and I of course accept their compliments with the bare minimum of self glorification. But I'm glad the effort I put in shows, and I'd say that I'm about as humble as can be; so amazingly humble that you'd barely know how humbly amazing I am.
The first things people usually notice about me
I dunno, what did YOU notice about me? Please tell me so that I might more accurately answer this question. The internet demands to know.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
FAVORITE favorite book... probably Catch 22. After that, authors that quickly come to mind are Terry Pratchett, Christopher Moore, Donald Westlake, Sarah Vowell, Warren Ellis, Theodore Sturgeon, Mark Twain, Andrew Hussie, and Meredith Gran. I tend to like 'em fantastic or funny.

I love too many movies to count so I don't think I could pick a favorite. I will say that I seem to keep coming back to High Fidelity an awful lot. Other movies high on the list include The General, Grindhouse, A Hard Day's Night, Ratatouille (well, everything Pixar's made), Dr. Strangelove, Heathers, Hot Fuzz, Shoot 'em Up, L.A. Story, Fight Club, Network, In Bruges, That Thing You Do, O Brother Where Art Thou (well, everything the Coen brothers have made), The Great Race, Bringing Up Baby, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, Pride and Prejudice (BBC), The Host, The Princess Bride...

Good god that was a lot of words. Gonna quit that while I can still almost claim I'm ahead.

Favorite show is probably Arrested Development - doesn't get much more perfect than that. Photo finish second would be Slings and Arrows. After that, Breaking Bad, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Community, Wonderfalls, The Venture Brothers, Cougar Town, and The Daily Show. Ask me about how much I hate The Big Bang Theory :D

See? That one was way shorter; I can DO this.

I like a lot of different kinds of music that isn't country. Most recently I've been rocking nostalgia and jamming to Tenacious D. Then you've got Electric Six, Incubus, Metallica, Flight of the Conchords, They Might Be Giants, and, I dunno, pretty much whatever the kids were listening to back in the '90s?

My tastes in food are broad as well. I love to try new things from all over the place. I've recently been getting into Thai food a bit, and I've also been slowly teaching myself how to cook. I follow a mean recipe, and I'm this close to figuring out the perfect egg sandwich.
Six things I could never do without
Hmmm. Let's go with the literal interpretation and say... organs?

I'ma go with...
And what the hell, Brain.

Yeah, those are all pretty stand-up fellas.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I'm way into politics but thinking about it too much is unhealthy, so I've been trying to ween myself off a bit. Gotta remind myself to get the news from Jon Stewart and leave it at that. Until we gear up to elect a new president and I get sucked in again...

I'm also all about any kind of art that tells a story: books, TV, movies, yes, even video games (yeah you heard me, Roger Ebert(RIP)). "These things matter!" I say with as much sophistication as I think you'll buy. I love to absorb them, classify them, take them apart and figure out what they mean. I love to talk about this stuff with other people too, even when we disagree. I've had wonderful conversations with friends that mostly consisted of us screaming at each other; in a loving, jovial way of course.

My newest passion is board games. I think it's awesome how many fascinating different games there are out there now, and how there are ways to play together that you probably wouldn't have even considered. I think, most of all, I love that it's such an interesting way to bring people together, and have them all really engaged with each other. Ask me about Space Alert!
On a typical Friday night I am
Unwinding from all the good times on Thursday. All the cool kids know that that's the REAL party day.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I left something off of my favorite TV shows list in the fear that it would reflect poorly on my masculinity. But in the paragraphs since, I feel that I've had time to grow as a person and become more comfortable with myself, so I can finally admit that I rather enjoy My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
You should message me if
You think I sound cool, and you are cool as well. Together, our coolness will be legendary. I'm prepared. They're gonna write ballads and shit.

OR, if you'd like to talk about Homestuck.
