My self-summary
Just your average weirdo, left-handed, liberal, enviro, prone to telling stories. Seeking someone to hang out and go adventuring with, possibly love.
What I’m doing with my life
Breakdown of my waking hours:
50% working as a cartographer and analyst
17.5% graduate school coursework
12.5% cooking, walking the dog and watching shows
10% riding bikes, hiking, exploring the city, skiing
5% reading, listening to books while I ride bikes
2.5% pondering
2.5% hoping to meet someone smart, cute, interesting and fun.
I’m really good at
canoeing, bike riding, enjoying a nice meal, visualizing, being articulate, philosophizing, measured sillyness, unmeasured chaos, picking colors, a bit of cooking, making out
The first things people usually notice about me
I have a question.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like to read, but I mostly read textbooks and reports these days. When I get to indulge I typically go for something on the spectrum between sci-fi and Aesop's Fables. When I was a kid I loved survivalist books like Hatchet and My Side of the Mountain. I really love a number of works by John Steinbeck, George Saunders, Ray Bradbury, and Ursula LeGuin.

When it comes to movies I can enjoy a lot of different kinds of films, but my taste can vary depending on my mood. I really like Wes Anderson and Hiyao Miyazaki films, Kurosawa is the best, I like a number of old westerns, but especially Duel at Diablo. I think the film La Haine is really important, and so is In the Mood for Love. I love animation and cartoons, lately, obviously, Rick and Morty is brilliant, and I also have a slight obsession with Samurai Jack.

Music is almost constant in my life, so much so that I might be a little too unplugged from my aural surroundings and opportunities to connect with fellow human beings. My musical taste is always growing and changing, but I tend to listen to a lot of Air, Daft Punk, Devendra Banhart, Pickin' On covers of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Modest Mouse, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, Cashmere Cat, Talking Heads, Bakermat, Yo La Tengo, Massive Attack, Fuck Buttons... etc.

I love most food, but I'm not going to eat any brussels sprouts unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Six things I could never do without
a loose sense of purpose, good friends, some sort of pet critter in my life, talking with smarties about things, artmusic.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Autonomous transportation, nature and how things work, watersheds, ecology, how spaces feel, love and friendships, social networks, housing affordability, bike routes, technology, listening to music is thinking in some way, materials, colors, urban stuff, sex, tasty food and beverages, art and my life so far.
On a typical Friday night I am
Pacing the room, laying out plans, finding flaws, cursing the stars, giving up on it for now and then going out for a beer or doing homework. On warm evenings I might be out and about on my bike and, hopefully on my way to do something fun with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I would go to mars.
You should message me if
You think we would have a good time together.
