My self-summary
I'm here to find someone nice to hang out with, I am friendly and fairly outgoing. I love good conversation and adventures of every stripe.
What I’m doing with my life
Living it? I guess it feels like I might be winging it, a little tinge of imposter syndrome perhaps. I love making visual things, I really enjoy talks and discussions, I am always working on being a better listener and letting people get it all out before I respond. I am working on sharpening my tools through school and entrepreneurship, but my real passion is time well spent in the company of great people in nice places doing good things.
I’m really good at
canoeing, bike riding, enjoying a nice meal, visualizing, being articulate, philosophizing, being goofy and joking around, picking colors, a bit of cooking, making out
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm pretty talkative, and I try to be controversial without being offensive or disrespectful. I like to take lots of notes and doodle constantly.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - Before high school I read at least 20 serious, serious sci-fi books, when I was in high school I read a lot of books (many of them qualifying as literature), and then in college I read some more books, but less literature and more architecture. Then after college I went back to reading a lot of serious, serious sci-fi like Neal Stephenson. Somewhere along the way I realized I had read everything by Kurt Vonnegut, and he died, and that was a bummer. Then I read a bunch of Steinbeck for a while, also Winesburg, Ohio and My Antonia in there as memorable pieces. Later, after that, I read this guy George Saunders for a bit, very dark and funny, master of intense short stories. Then I got back into serious, serious sci-fi like Le Guin. Recently read the Wind-Up Girl, which I would generally recommend.
Update: Now in graduate school, I haven't read a good book in a while, what would you suggest? I have been subsisting on graphic novels from the downtown library.
Update2: I have combined audible books with a bluetooth speaker on my bike to listen to my sci-fi candy while I ride around town. With a tight schedule this allows me to symbiotically combine two great but often hard to accomodate activities!

I like a lot of different kinds of music, if you don't then there might be something up. I lean towards songs that seem like someone put a lot of thought and care into the feelings of sounds and sounds of feelings in the music. Lately I have been listening to the Discover Weekly selection from Spotify, selecting the best tracks and adding them to this huge list I have going called Supasmooth, I think it has reached over 700 tracks, and they all have at least a nugget of something that I just couldn't stand to part with. I like to dance sometimes, with the right crowd and the right music.

Well, I like movies. In high school I started a film club, we just watched movies. It turns out the club lasted for 10 years. I don't know if you find that impressive, but I was impressed when I found out. I had no idea until recently, way to go! Again, like music, I don't really care about the genre as much as I do the genuine creative spirit and talent that goes into making a film. I have probably watched thousands of flicks at this point, but I would say that there is something about Wong Kar-wai's In the Mood for Love that was very moving to me, something about the colors and the quiet. I also really love The Life Aquatic and I am a fan of the old Jacques Cousteau shows.

I do eat, I'm not a picky eater either. I like a big or small plate or bowl of food. I like many colors, shapes, textures and flavors of food. I haven't met a lot of food that I wouldn't eat, however I have been trying to steer clear of food that is bad for me. I like gardening when I have time, and I am good about eating my veggies. Sometimes my hunger opens up like a cavern and I just eat and eat and eat and eat. Other times I find an apple to be the perfect solution. Sometimes I crave things like taquitos, chocolately chocolate brownie fudge swirl ice cream, vanilla wafers, tangerines, pico de gallo, spring rolls, something fried, carrots, and waffles.
Six things I could never do without
a loose sense of purpose, good friends, some sort of pet critter in my life, talking with smarties about things, artmusic.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Autonomous transportation, nature and how things work, watersheds, ecology, how spaces feel, love and friendships, social networks, housing affordability, technology, listening to music is thinking in some way, materials, colors, urban stuff, sex, tasty food and beverages, art and my life so far.
On a typical Friday night I am
Pacing the room, laying out plans, finding flaws, cursing the stars, giving up on it for now and then going out for a beer or doing homework. On warm evenings I might be out and about on my bike and, hopefully on my way to do something fun with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I would go to mars.
You should message me if
You think we would have a good time together.
