Note: Someone on OKC recently replied to a message I sent to them with 2 major concerns. The first concern was that she assumed that I wrote "Sex Driven" on my profile. The second was that she objected to my referring to this site (and the dating scene in general) as a "meat market.
My reply to her was this:
"A couple of things you should know. I did not write "sex driven" on my profile - OK cupid did. There are lots of those descriptors (even on your profile) that are generated by the questions and essays that you answer. As for the "meat market"...take a look at the questions, answers, and profile statements on this and most of the sites. Men are asking for women of a certain height, size, shape, etc. and Women are too. In fact, I've come across so many profiles from women that state that without a higher education degree or if I'm not over 5'8" they won't even entertain talking to someone. It is what it is - hopefully, among the shallower and baser requests there are women and men who really are interested in meeting someone and forming a partner/relationship based on sharing in all aspects of living."
This is not meant to openly chastise her. Her assumptions, about my profile, may have sent up RED FLAGS to others too. Instead I'd prefer this to be a "teachable moment" Not all the guys on this, or any other, site are shallow and disinterested in a genuine relationship. Ladies, within reason, give some of the guys a chance. Gentlemen, be fair, tell the ladies what you really want and, hopefully, you may get it - whatever it is.
