My self-summary
Hey there! I am enjoying the Spring weather with the pool opening soon. I've been back in Sylvania since October -- first time back here living since I was 18 and headed off to school. Like Billy Crystal says to Harold Ramis in the great City Slickers flick at the campfire after Harold loses it and saves the day with two drunk cowboys, "You've got a do over buddy. Just like when we hit foul balls as kids and called 'Do over!' You can do anything you want buddy."

Well that's me in a nutshell these days. Lots of freedom and flexibility as I move on to the next stage of life with a few parts of the canvas still painted in (a 22 yr old son who just "dropped" his first EP of EDM music to a rave review; a 30 yr old daughter -- yes adopted, I am only 51 -- who loves her work with teaching, training, buying and selling horses and lives in a guest house in Malibu with awesome views of the sunsets).

While I did miss the sunshine during the winter, and the ocean, it's Spring heading into Summer here so I think I can roll with that pretty well. One q for any prospective women: On a Tuesday at 2 pm if you lived near the ocean on a warm day, would you go body surfing with me? Maybe even mostly because I wanted to go and wanted to go with you. If your answer is "Hell yes!" then read on. If it's "If you want me to, I'm right there with you," then read on. If it's "I'm not really comfortable doing that because of xyz," probably best that you stop reading and move on. Nothing personal. It's just become an early q I'm asking to find someone more compatible than less.

Fun. Important in my life right now and until they put me six feet under. Going to jazz concerts, lectures about tatoo lectures inspired by Japanese wood block carvings at the museum, film festivals, even some funky combo of classical music and dance (have to admit I haven't been to one but a buddy in DC just told me he went and it was awesome) are all on my list. Also big points for you if I am not the only one dreaming up the next fun thing to do.

I love surprises, thoughtful ones I should quality that just in case you're thinking unthoughtful ones are those on my "good list." I've got another buddy who goes out with his partner on surprise dates -- they alternate picking things to do and then the other finds out when they get where they're going. If that sounds like fun, keep reading on.

I actually like to cook and would say I hold my own in the kitchen, occasionally tossing some candles on the table for good measure. I can do a pretty mean, "whatever's in the house" concoction or you can order up a favorite and I'll go to work on that.

Be in a place to be almost any way. I have a lot of fun seeing my partner smile. This isn't just about what I like or want to do. Let me know what's on your major or minor bucket list and we can go to work checking those things off too.

I also have a good time with the odd and unusual "I've never done that before" like going to a "Grilled Cheese Invitational" grilled cheese cooking contest or the more mundane XYZ festival. Getting out and about with fun on the agenda is at the top of my list.

My work in the world is to support people and organizations in creating their preferred futures so visioning has always played a big role in both my personal and professional life. Parties are fun to both throw and go to. I like to laugh and really enjoy making others do the same. These days I'm up for fun with a pretty broad definition of that term.
What I’m doing with my life
I own a consulting firm professional-wise, very excited to be back doing "my life's work" that I began 20 years ago and then slowly drifted away from. I travel some for work -- been as far as Thailand, Indonesia and Brazil....and as close as Cleveland, West Lafayette, IN and South Bend (the latter group keeps me humble :). Lately though been able to do a fair bit virtually. Happy to tell you more about my work if you're interested. I get a lot of positive juju from it and it's an important part of who I am.

And no not a workaholic. The rest of what I'm doing with my life has a few more paragraphs than this one in the section above.
I’m really good at
Making people laugh; shooting a jumper from 15 feet; being romantic when the moment's right; what I do for a living; writing; having a good time; being comfortable in my own skin; helping others; listening...and most recently a good bit of compassion. Read a great thing the other day. A mantra of sorts: Everybody is doing the best they can or they would be doing better. Think about it. Something about that truth will set you free, if you take it to heart.
The first things people usually notice about me
Hmmmmm. I dunno. Probably because I'm extroverted they notice my ease in conversation. I'm hardly shy so it's easy for me to strike up a conversation and have people feel comfortable around me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Oh boy. This is the question that will tell you all about me!
Movies (a pretty wide variety):
RomComs like Love Actually, Notting Hill, Hitch, Lars and the Real Girl; Serious Business like Saving Private Ryan, Philadelphia, The List, and stupid, clever comedies like The Big Lebowski, Young Frankenstein, Airplane, Animal House, Old School and sports-themed ones with underlying meaning like Remember the Titans, The Blind Side and 42.

Dave Matthews Band; James Taylor, Rolling Stones, Flim and the BB's, Andrea Bocelli; Jethro Tull; Avril Lavigne, BB King, The Beatles, Black Eyed Peas; Blink 182; Bob Marley; Jimmy Cliff (saw him at the Santa Monica Pier just before leaving LA); Bruce Springsteen; Coldplay; Counting Crows; Dave Grusin; David Sanborn; Death Cab for Cutie, EDM because my son is into it and producing his own; Prince (saw his concert in LA when he did 20 in 20 nights); the itunes list is too long!

New and different stuff -- again with a very wide variety. I'm always up for trying a new restaurant or different food through a yelp search. I also like cooking (see above)....would love to take a cooking class with a partner, make a dinner together...I'll even do the dishes : )
Six things I could never do without
Fun, Family, Good work in the world, Sex, Visions of the Future, Friends
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Hey, life is happening right now. Have I remembered to choose to have a good day. Choosing to have one I've found has a lot to do with actually having one.
On a typical Friday night I am
Heading out somewhere for an adventure -- though I'm comfortable doing this on my own, I suspect it would be a bit more fun with someone on my arm. Maybe a night of netflix with a big bowl of popcorn after one of those dinners (see above). Sitting next to a fire or pool with a good book. I dunno. What's on your list?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Well I do have that 45,000 card baseball card collection and that might scare off my nearly perfect mate but hey, I'm an open book and if there are some things you just can't handle about who I am, better that we both know that early in the game!
You should message me if
You were intrigued by any of my answers and are serious about actually meeting. I'll pass notes back and forth for a while or chat (why don't any women even turn that feature on?), but if I wanted an exclusive online relationship, I'm sure there are weird sites for just that. I don't know which they are and I ain't going looking for them.

If you're serious about meeting, then we have another thing in common. Drinks, coffee, dinner....hell even a root beer float would do the trick. There is something nice about passing notes, but I'm a fair bit past that (see: grade school and high school for earlier versions of that in my life).

Oh, and have a great day, even a solid good one would do. The alternative tends to land somewhere between decent and horrible....neither of those compare favorably to the better end of the scale.
