My self-summary
I don't see myself as the typical guy out there. I'm very much my own unique person... many differences from the norm but at the same time still looking for connection, love, happiness which is something we all seek in our own ways. I'm at a point in my life where I'd really like to find a serious partner. Someone I could truly share my life with and vice versa. Someone to connect with, love, laugh, cuddle, explore, and experience all the deeper as well as mundane aspects of life with.

There must be a woman out there who can appreciate my uniqueness. At least that's my hope, and hence why I'm here.
What I’m doing with my life
Update for OBX! I am focusing on a new job and living in a good and productive routine.
1. Work: become a better manager and instructor, as well as continue to advance my diving career. Also take on some odd jobs to stay ahead of the bills.
2. Continue a healthy diet and workout routine. Basically cook better and have a fun strength and endurance training program. With a gym membership I plan to workout at least 5 days a week with 1 to 2 hours each day. Yoga in the mornings is part of this plan too.
3. Get back into some art projects when at home relaxing, Marlin spike/rope art, knit, sculpt. Some general apartment painting and sewing projects too.

Note: I'm trying to juggle a lot of objectives here which does not leave an enormous amount of time for dating... but I don't want to stop looking for love either. My hope is to find a partner whom I can share some of these aspects of life with. Health and Fitness, Fun (Art, Movies, etc), Education, and ideally she would be a diver and have a passion/strong interest in the ocean.

In less recent news:
I'm new to the OBX. I wandered for many years, traveling for all 2010 to 2016. I've been in 49 states, Antarctica, Fiji, New Zealand, Madagascar, Belize, Germany to name a few major places (working on scientific diving projects, dive instruction, and just traveling).

Some of my interests include: Scuba diving (Scientific and Recreational Instruction), underwater photography/videography, marine biology, nature, wildlife photography, sea kayaking, white water kayaking, swimming, biking (Rd and Mt), xc skiing, knitting, Marlin spiking, sculpture, massage (I really want to take some classes even though i don't see myself doing it for work), movies, TV (this is a vice of mine believe it or not, but it's good for winding down in the evenings), love Argentine tango dancing (I want to get a lot better at it and I'm looking forward to attending functions wherever I travel to in the world), I also enjoy yoga, pilates, strength training and weights. I use to LOVE to run but a knee injury ended my high impact sport days such as running.
I’m really good at
Exploring, travel, scuba diving, photography, dancing, cuddling, relaxing, listening... but I'm always trying to learn new things and get better at the things I really like. There is always room for improvement and new aspects to learn.
The first things people usually notice about me
My bald head, a six foot tall bald guy kinda stands out in a crowd... In general I'm pretty quiet and a bit socially awkward in groups. People also say I come off as being a bit serious - most ask if I'm military but I'm not. I think of myself as being very easy going, I'm just serious when it comes to trying to do a good job on something important to me and really focusing on it. People seem to comment that I'm very unassuming in nature too. A bit aloof as well I suppose.

I get comments on my blue eyes from time to time too...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I've enjoyed The Endurance, The Ice Master, The Old Man and the Sea, Cannery Row, Harry Potter and Inheritance series, Wallbanger, but for the most part I read how-to books for things like diving (a have a new stack of seven technical books i need to start working through), photography, carpentry, art, and then science books/journals, wildlife ID books, plus dive magazines... I also went through the Fifty Shades and Hunger Games series - very disappointed with Fifty Shades but Hunger Games was interesting although sad & disturbing at the same time.

Food: I'll try pretty much anything honestly. But my favorite things to eat are usually fresh, natural, and don't take long to prepare. I do like to eat healthy.
The six things I could never do without
I need water in my life in so many ways... I'm a water boy but I'm also a polar boy - I like the snow and ice and cold mysterious waters.

Time to myself is important to me, for thinking life over before acting on various plans, but so is having time for genuine companionship and comradery.

The freedom to be myself and have the comfort to be open and honest with the people I share my life with. I'm not into playing games, I try my best to be non-judgmental and just live a simple and easy going life exploring the things that interest me. The need/want to find love and not have to give it up every time the various paths shared by each other separates or changes over time -- this is a dream of mine.

I really hope for a great sex life too, full of openness, honesty, fun, and exploration.

Other than that, a place to sleep, eat, and bathe (whether it's a village steam house, normal tub/shower, or a frigged glacial lake).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My work is usually near the top of my list of things to think about. I also spend a lot of time in personal reflection, considering the wants and needs in my life and how they affect the people and the world around me. A mixture of relationships/love/sensuality are high on the list as well...
On a typical Friday night I am
Most of the time I'm usually on my own, I have worked a lot conducting extended field projects away from "home". However, if at home I'd probably still be working, or watching TV/movies, but hopefully planing for a weekend trip diving or doing some other outdoor or gym activity! Some other artistic/educational function is possible too. I'm not a big party guy though, better one-on-one or in smaller groups if I do go to a party. I also don't drink alcohol (just never liked it so finally decided to give it up) so I don't have much interest in going to the bars. I also have a hard time dealing with really smokey places too.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I use to want to find a relationship that was more open and would allow us to be ourselves and explore life in lots of different ways with the people we were close to in the moment. I no longer see that as being practical though. Finding people you can really trust and connect with is NOT an easy thing for starters... What I ultimately want is to simply be myself and be happy with one person who can accept me as I would do the same for them. Of course any good relationship will have compromises that will need to be made, but I don't want to be in a relationship that is ok with lies and pretending to be something we are not, or forcing change on each other. I also don't want us to make assumptions about each other, if there are questions I'd like for either of us to be able to ask anything/be able to talk openly about anything.
You should message me if
If you're interested in talking to me... whether it's about scuba diving, Argentine tango, photography... or anything else you're curious about please feel free to send a message. :)

I am interested in purely friendly relationships as well as a very romantic and loving one... I do hope to find love more than anything and have that deeper connection -- finding that is very important to me.
