My self-summary
Born in the New York area, moved to Massachusetts for college, back here after school, then back up to Massachusetts for a job, then back to New York. My life is the Chinatown bus. :)

I'm here hoping to find someone real. I value warmth, intelligence, curiosity, authenticity, and a sense of humor. Or at least enough of a sense of humor that you'll put up with my jokes. (According to OKCupid's 3-variable funny test, I desire to see more testicles on fire. I'm quite intrigued by their use of the word "more"....)

I have myriad interests, some of which are not in the so-called "mainstream". I've never known anyone to share all of these, which is okay. It just means more opportunities to grow from each other!

• Traveling (okay, that one's mainstream). Been to 47 states and 20 countries.
• Flying. I'm planning on getting my pilot's license in 2017.
• Classical music (and am trying to educate myself on opera). I was raised in this, and it has played a big role in shaping me.
• The water. I am a certified SCUBA diver, and I dream of having a house on a lake some day.
• Science: Astronomy, cosmology, particle physics. Truth is stranger than fiction, and learning about the world around us is so fascinating.
• Food. OK, a semi-mainstream interest. I love eating out, I love classic cocktails, and I love entertaining in my tiny matchbox apartment. :)

If you share some of my interests, great! And if not, let's learn from each other.
What I’m doing with my life
Software consultant for one of the so-called "Big Four". Consulting is challenging work, but my work definitely does not define me.
I’m really good at
Earning frequent flier miles.
Bringing people together.
Now that I own a Sodastream, I drink seltzer water like it's my job.
Walking quickly. Even for a New Yorker.
Being thoughtful.
This. (I also have perfect pitch. Both make me equally fun at parties. :) )
Making others feel appreciated.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a non-fiction kinda guy, and I've f*cking loved science even before I F*cking Love Science. Two of my favorite authors are particle physicist/cosmologist Lawrence Krauss and string theorist Brian Greene. (I also love Neil deGrasse Tyson, but I've never read any of his books. I just listen to his podcast.)
I also have a *lot* of cookbooks.

The Big Bang Theory. BBC Sherlock. Game of Thrones. House of Cards.
America's Test Kitchen and Lidia on PBS.
Some of my favorite shows in the past have been Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, The Newsroom, and The West Wing (and yes, indeed, I listen to The West Wing Weekly podcast).

I mostly listen to classical music. Here are some favorite composers: Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Chopin.
Every once in a while, I end up listening to a musical for months on end. Recently it was Wicked, then last year I sawThe Book of Mormon and that became the musical du jour for several jours. Haven't yet gotten into Hamilton, but it'll probably happen one of these days.

I'm a foodie, and try to be open-minded. I will try most things, with the understanding that you don't have to like everything you try, but you'll also never expand your horizons without trying new things. Some of my favorite foods include dan dan noodles, Brazilian rodizio, halo-halo, passionfruit and mangoes and most things with passionfruit or mangoes in them, bubble tea, phở, pumpkin-flavored anything (except, oddly, pumpkin pie), and oysters. Regardless of the diverse set of cultures that my food interests draw upon, there are no substitutes for pizza and Carvel ice cream cake.

Jim Jefferies, Louis CK, Patton Oswalt, Joe Rogan.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How small we are in the universe, sustainability, climate change, human nature and elections, how this nation and the world will survive under Trump, and a lot of thoughts around food.
You should message me if
You treat others with respect, even those from whom you have nothing to gain.
You like that I didn't end that last sentence with a preposition. :)
You're smiling in one of your profile pictures.
You consider yourself to be a warm and caring individual.
You're not perfect.
