I have a cute dog, an almost-broken guitar, and a thriving if somewhat anxious imagination. I'm extremely enthusiastic about words—and people who use them well—and equally so about music, art, and anyone who's passionate about anything. Music is my first love, but I'm also an aspiring actor and writer, and, like I said, a fuckin' nerd. I will probably throw some of my original music at you if you express interest.
I'm here because I'm addicted to meeting interesting people who can help make my life awesome—and possibly date/make out/have sex with them if attraction happens, because that stuff's almost always fun, but that's not by any means necessary for me to want to get to know someone. If you're going to add something valuable to my life in any context, that's all it takes. I'm in a poly/open relationship; I hope that isn't a dealbreaker as far as dating/sex goes, but even if so, I probably want to be friends with you anyway!
I'm straightforward, honest, and (hopefully) authentic to a fault. I try to encourage others to be the same. Also, I tend not to find too many people like this on here, but: I really, really don't like intolerance and closed-mindedness, especially homophobia and the shaming of people with mental illnesses. If either of those things somehow applies to you, just do us both a favor and get the fuck out. Do not pass Go; do not collect $200.
shit shit this is probably too long already
Uh. I've been told in the past—admittedly before updates—that I sound more serious and intense here than I actually am in real life. Kind of a goofball, really. I will 100% act like a enormous dork around those I'm comfortable with.
Me: "I'm not even sure how that happened. I'm not wearing pants."
Writing songs about liberal politics, girls with peculiar names, anxiety, Boston, and alcoholic ex-criminals with gambling debts getting whacked by their creditors and dumped in shitty rivers in upstate New York. Among other things.
Making words do the word thing. I was once described by a roommate as "one eloquent motherfucker" and besides the butt-dialing one that might be the best compliment I've ever recieved.
I was a decent crew coxswain before quitting the UMass team for lack of time, and can tell you all about Boston and Cambridge because it is literally part of my job.
Also my intense cheekbones, the fact that my resting assface makes me look vaguely pissed off a lot even though I almost never am, and apparently the slightly distinctive way I talk (or write, I guess).
"Why does your wardrobe seem to consist entirely of black Chucks, jeans with the cuffs all fucked up, and shirts with bands on them?"
Books: science fiction and dystopia, alternate history, band/artist biographies, extremely entertaining Hunter S. Thompson-esque stories about crazy shit; Shakespeare! (Midsummer, Macbeth, Hamlet); Ender's Game and sequels (despite the author being an ultra-conservative, homophobic asshat), 1984, On The Beach, The Catcher in the Rye, Franny and Zooey, Animal Farm, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, A Clockwork Orange, On The Road, World War Z, Looking For Alaska. Right now I'm falling in love with John Updike's short stories and Marky Ramone's autobiography, and in the process of being enthralled by 1Q84.
TV: The Wire, Fargo, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, 24, Rescue Me, Homicide: Life on the Street, Family Guy, Futurama, Seinfeld.
Movies: Quentin Tarantino, the Coen Brothers, anything with Will Ferrell in it, historical war films, thrillers with psychological or social-commentary elements, and the occasional pretentious avant-garde fuckery.
I'll try pretty much any food at least once. Burritos, Italian, and seafood are favorites. Pasta goes with anything. Spicy is the best taste. (Despite my best efforts, I'm pretty sure I've never reached 105 pounds.)
Video games: Fallout, Just Cause, Far Cry, Bioshock (1 and Infinite), Civilization, Total War, Company of Heroes, SimCity, Call of Duty (the older the better)... and many more.
Webcomics: xkcd, Questionable Content, Dinosaur Comics (aka the Holy Trinity of nerdy webcomics).
Honorable mention: gin and tonics are easily my favorite drink and I'd be quite sad without 'em. There IS a story behind that.
Oh, and the novel or series of short stories I may eventually write about the fascinating and wonderfully bizarre experience of online dating. Seriously!
(Alright, if we're being all straightforward here, the *actual* most private things I'm willing to admit are probably sexual, but, you know, that might not be the best thing to talk about in what's giving you your first impression of me, so ask me if you actually want to know. For example, about the most horrifyingly awkward experience of my life...which doubles as the story about gin and tonic.)
...you read all that? Holy shit!
