My self-summary
Hi. Hello.

I'm freelance reporter in Halifax and the surrounding HRM, a graduate of the University of King's College Journalism school, and I'm an unabashed NERD. I like to think I have a good sense of humour, and am a pretty reasonable, non-insane person to deal with. I am a fan of all good things literate, be they books, comics, movies, television, and even video games. If it has a good story and tickles my fancy, I'm all over it. I live in Halifax NS with my cats Meowsie and Otto.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently working as a freelance reporter, writer and occasional videographer. I mostly write for magazines these days - you may have heard of them, or probably not. But they're cool magazines, I assure you. Sometimes they let me write about gross bugs or how to make cartoons.
I’m really good at
Not to boast, but I fancy myself good at things like writing, photography, videography and video editing, drawing, puzzles, video games, card games, and a few other minor talents here and there. I'm also told I've got a great sense of humour, and am a good listener.

What I am NOT good at is talking about things I'm good at.
The first things people usually notice about me
Gosh, I'm not sure! It used to be the vest I always wore, but I don't wear it so much anymore. Maybe my outgoing personality? You tell me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Oh, this will either be difficult for me, or lengthy.

Movies: Jurassic Park, Spider-Man 2, Ghostbusters, almost anything by Stanley Kubrick, Whisper of the Heart (a lesser-known Studio Ghibli film) Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Transformers: The Movie, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, most Pixar movies, Rosemary's Baby, John Carpenter's The Thing, and many, MANY more. I like movies a lot.

Books: Watchmen, the Sandman series, V for Vendetta, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen series, The Walking Dead, Invincible, Ultimates 1 & 2, 1984, The Chrysalids, The Day of the Triffids, Fun Home, The Moonstone, Catcher in the Rye, Brave New World, and once again, many more that are too many to list. An even larger list is 'All The Books I Want To Read But Haven't Yet.'

Music: Classical music, movie scores, Daft Punk, Queen, 80's music, and mostly other instrumental music. That one wasn't so bad.

Shows: A lot of animated things. Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel series, Transformers for the most part, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, The Spectacular Spider-Man, and lots more. Non-animation wise, I'm quite fond of Dexter, and Parks and Recreation is the funniest show on television. I also watch a few Japanese shows. Mostly Kamen Rider. One of my current favourites is Unofficial Sentai Akibaranger. Again, this is a situation where I like a LOT of things in this category.

Food: I'm not overly picky! But if I had to choose favourites, I'm partial to good egg rolls, Italian food, Japanese food, Greek food, and basic Meat n' Potatoes kind of stuff. Also I love fruits like Clementines, grapes and cherries, yet not so fond of strawberries.
Six things I could never do without
1. My cats, Ozzi (RIP little dude), Meowsie, and Otto.
2. My computer/Internet (it's my livelihood, and my perpetual source of distraction!)
3. My closest friends & family
4. Transformable toy robots.
5. My DVD/bluray player/video game console (and the game/movie collection that it runs on)
6. Food, oxygen and water. For, you know, living reasons.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How this whole Adult Life thing works; the fairness and justness of the world, and forms of governance and economics; are aliens real? What about bigfoot? The Loch Ness Monster is too hokey, that one couldn't be real; practicing conversations in my head that I'd never have IRL; what it takes to be right with oneself, and if that's even possible 100%; bummer thoughts, sometimes; things to say on the fly to get a laugh out of people; composing work stories in my head; other random noise.

Also, robots.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either relaxing from a busy work week, or gathering people over to my place for a Bad Movie Night party, or something of that ilk. I don't do the whole club thing, so I guess you can say I'm a homebody.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I maintain a collection of Transformers action figures.
You should message me if
You think I might be a fun person to talk to or hang out with, and you think I might feel the same about you.

Or you know, whatever. Don't feel like you need to meet criteria to message me. Go ahead, strike up a conversation!

Also, I suffer from occasional shyness, especially with this whole dating thing, so if I pop by your profile and say nothing, I promise I'm not being a creeper! You're probably just so cool that I didn't think I had anything cool enough to say.
