East Bay native. I've lived all up and down the west coast for the past decade but I've lived in Santa Cruz off and on since 2010. I've done just about everything since College and now I work in the highly scrupled field of advertising and marketing.
I spend a lot of time looking at news stories online about animals running amok and generally getting into mischief. I honestly get super excited when I see a local news bulletin about llamas on the loose (this was an actual Sentinel story a few years back).
I love vinyl records, (especially 80s hardcore punk, straight edge, and rare picture disks,) vintage audio equipment, speaker building, soldering together noise devices like guitar effects pedals, and fiddling with various knobs and switches.
I like the straight edge scene a lot but I don't claim edge.
I remember shit like Rain Man.
Also, if we were dropped in the woods without any supplies I'd be able to make us a shelter, tell the direction from the stars, trap game, and start a fire with sticks, so there's that.
Seriously though? I do smell nice. I mainly get comments on my eyes and eyebrows, and my wide shoulders/slim hips.
I care a lot about music.
Descendents, Black Flag, Adolescents, Gorilla Biscuits, Minor Threat, 7 Seconds, Bane, Ten Yard Fight, Defeater, Turnstile, Orchid, Saetia, Pg.99, Men as Trees, Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust, Radon, The Lillingtons, Teenage Bottlerocket, The Queers, Screeching Weasel, Riverdales, The Phenomenauts, The Epoxies, The Misfits, Nekromantix, Tiger Army, Batmobile, The Meteors, Koffin Kats, The Creepshow, Wanda Jackson, Johnny Burnette, Buddy Holly, The Cure, The Smiths, Joe Jackson
Kafka, Orwell, Huxley, Bradbury, Poe, Douglas Adams. But I mainly read non-fiction. I like history books and philosophy, especially Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Camus, and B.F. Skinner.
I have a weakness for campy horror movies such as: night of the living dead, dawn of the dead, day of the dead, dead snow, eyes without a face. Other favorites include The Deer Hunter, Valley Girl, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, The Alien Series, Mystery Science Theater 3000 aka MST3K, Drive. Basically vintage Scorsese, Tarantino, or anything by Refn. I love his ability to convey tone.
Pee-wee Herman, Archie Comics and Mad Magazine played an instrumental role in shaping the man I am today.
