My self-summary

I dig brilliant conversation
If it isn't funny, it needs to be
I'm a coffee, beer and cheese snob
I garden (mutant tomatoes!!!) and camp
I love paddling around lakes with cocktails
I can't abide the willfully ignorant
If you make fun of my tofu, I'll fucking moo at your burger
Live music is much better than dead music
I enjoy learning about the world through other people's experiences and comparing notes when possible
I love travel and sleeping in nice hotels as much as on a friends couch.

I'm told I look confused in my photos. I don't photograph well. I may also actually be confused.

I am very passionate about society and social, economic and environmental justice issues. I dislike ideology and dogma, but I would be considered a very engaged *independent* progressive.

I love my people. I want you to love them too.

And I want to love your people.
What I’m doing with my life
Living it as spectacularly as I can.

I am the founder and executive director of a food security non-profit.

Being a good father and friend to my children.

I write-- mostly poetry, spoken word these days, but have written media critique columns, political essay, fiction (novels, short stories and screenplays) and all kinds of stuff. I belong to an immensely talented local writers group.

I also write haiku. Sometimes smutty ones.

I spend a good deal of free time working with others to attempt to make this world a slightly, if not significantly, better place. It needs all the help it can get.
I’m really good at
Making inventive mojitos.
Parallel Parking™
Keeping drama in my life to a minimum.
Finding amazing, fun and talented people to add to my circle of friends.
Brunch conversation.

Back and foot massages :)

Kissing. No really. You should be too.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes.

My voice which has been described as a cross between "Porno" and "Nicholas Cage". I am undecided how I feel about this.

I am told I "smell nice." But unless we meet sniffing each other, that probably won't be the first thing you notice. Although I am open to an initial sniff- if that's your thing.

Slow or at least lethargic food only please. Raw, locally sourced, and fresh desirable!
The six things I could never do without
My Kids
Beers and BackScratches
(No particular order)

Bonus Round!
Breezes lakeside
Clear night skies in the middle of fucking nowhere
Quality Toilet paper
Perfect kisses
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to make the world a better place.
How I can pack in as much travel and friends as possible.
How to resolve the dilemma between violent ignorance and free speech.
How to make the pearfect Pearjito.
What my next poem will be about and how to improve the ones I've written.
On a typical Friday night I am
Cleaning up so I can meet friends for cocktails, music or both
and figuring out brunch plans for the weekend.

Fixing dinner and getting ready to settle in- saving energy for a fun weekend.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When we had the ice storm several years back I worked from home and twice daily melted and re-filled the hummingbird feeder as a small army of very very cold hummingbirds diligently waited.

I have a hard time deciding between Cucumber-Melon and Gardenia body wash. Rosemary-Mint is mandatory.
You should message me if
The spirit moves you, let me groove you good
let your loooove come down! (If you like Marvin Gaye)

You're a really good kisser and you like to do it a lot

You think Trygaeus' conversation with Hermes in Aristophanes' "Peace" makes total and complete sense as to why the Gods have abandoned humans (or if you don't mind hearing the condensed story)

If you'll crack me up.

You are equally comfortable with intelligent thoughtful discussions and really silly inanity

You are genuine, outgoing and sociable and enjoy sharing experiences regardless what they are and where they go.
