My self-summary
I'm moving to New Jersey for grad school in August, so I'm not too sure of what I'm looking for on here.

The way to my heart is good food and laughter, so if you have those, congrats! You're already an amazing person in my book!

Can often be found with a cup of tea in one hand, and a book in the other. Gemütlichkeit at its finest.

Speaking of German, here's a fun fact! I was an illegal immigrant in Germany for three days.

I put a lot of effort into giving thoughtful gifts. I will often try to make them unique, by crafting it on my own, or customizing it.

I laugh. Like, a lot. Life is funny and weird and short, and that's just how I like it.

Body mod enthusiast and very proud to say I'm part of a body suspension team.

Huge animal lover, and volunteer at a cat shelter in my free time. I'm the person at a party that tries to befriend the pets.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently a kick-ass server/bartender, but I'm leaving food service in August to start my PhD in medieval German literature. If my ability to read medieval German doesn't save the world from global warming, I don't know what will.

I am an atheist, but I'm cool with religion. My passion is public science education and protecting the separation of church and state. I'm not a jerk about it, honest!
I’m really good at
Foreign languages, cooking, baking, video and tabletop games, finding adventures (I may or may not have a log of abandoned buildings that I have passed and intend to explore).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Anything Terry Pratchett (RIP), Douglas Adams, or Neil Gaiman. Desperately waiting for The Winds of Winter. I'm in love with weird Russian literature (Generation P, We, Master and Margarita) and history books (Land of the Firebird, Uncorking the Past). Fairy tales, folklore, and medieval German literature are my jam.

Movies: Corny horror/sci-fi movies (Evil Dead, Death Race 2000, etc.) The grotesque and surreal (just please don't make me watch Antichrist again). I secretly love chick flicks, but rarely watch them, because I have no idea which are good.

Music: Punk, ska, and metal, mostly. I will listen, and dance, to anything, though! Zombina and the Skeletones, Leftöver Crack, Streetlight Manifesto, Nile, MDC, Municipal Waste. I'll also rock out to some 90's pop, T Swift, and Miley. Although my top two artists on Spotify are Regina Spektor and Amanda Palmer...

Food: Sushi (cliche, I know), mushrooms, charcuterie, more mushrooms, pizza. Probably be safe to add more mushrooms to the list.

Games: Undertale is, hands down, the best game ever made. Otherwise, Overwatch, Mass Effect, Portal, Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Katamari Damacy. Part of a weekly D&D campaign. We took down Godzilla while riding on tamed antlions two weeks ago, so I don't get what's not to love.
Six things I could never do without
My Russian-English dictionary, animals, sushi (my friend has a cat named Sushi, so that could be combined into one category), a good story, cat gifs, and, apparently, an outlandish number of parentheses.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How people have ended up where they are now. I'll probably never see that man walking down the street again, but I want to know his story.

Shit, did I forget to bring table 32 their side of mayo?

How concepts we consider so obvious in our modern age can actually be quite new, relatively speaking. My favorite is the one-sex model.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and a cup of tea, probably! Otherwise, playing games with friends, or out getting coffee.

You think we're in danger of ending up on one of those first dates that goes hours longer than you originally expected, because the conversation is flowing so well.
