My self-summary
Night shift nurse that loves to dance, loves people, and brunch. Brunch is a beautiful, beautiful thing.

Also, farmer's markets. You can't beat being surrounded by delicious vegetables.
What I’m doing with my life
I currently work as an RN at a huge hospital in DC in Labor and Delivery...and so far I LOVE IT. I worked in Neurology/Stroke for 2 years, but eventually found a calling in L&D. I'm a huge advocate for reproductive justice and rights. I barista-ed my way through college working at Starbucks, another contribution to my unhealthy caffeine addiction. Currently working on my masters in public health at UMD with a plan move my work efforts into a free clinic setting or clinical research. I'm also a huge advocate for school health. I think it would be crazy interesting working as an epidemiologist at NIH or the CDC. That all being said, my heart truly lies with helping people and bettering society one public health initiative at a time :)
I’m really good at
Taking care of other people...
Being inquisitive and listening - I'd rather hear YOU tell me your life story for hours on end.
Empathy - it's so very important to my job. I need to know and feel what someone from a completely different background and walk of life is feeling/experiencing...it makes me a better nurse.
Making mix tapes for other people, cheering friends up on a bad day, and drinking wine :)

Does... completing jigsaw puzzles count? Hah.
The first things people usually notice about me
Ooooh I have no idea, maybe you can tell me.
Maybe my hair? It has a mind of its own I suppose.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love to cook. I can't say that I'm very good at it or anywhere along the lines of a top chef, but I love to "attempt" to cook new things now and then :) It's so very therapeutic, especially after a long shift at work. Favorite type of food would have to be Indian, hands down.

Here, there, and everywhere music!
Sleigh Bells, Cyndi Lauper, Architecture in Helsinki, The Black Keys, Bat for Lashes, Bitter:Sweet, Blondie, Broken Social Scene, Cocorosie, Eisley, Esthero, Feist, Fleetwood Mac, I’m From Barcelona, Ingrid Michaelson, Le Tigre, Mates of State, Metric, M.I.A., Midlake, Neko Case, Psapp, Regina Spektor, Rilo Kiley, Roisin Murphy, Roxette, Save Ferris, Scissor Sisters, She & Him, The Sounds, Stevie Nicks, Sufjan Stevens, Tegan and Sara, The Kills, The Ting Tings, Tilly and the Wall, Tori Amos, and Tracy Bonham to name a few :)

As for books...I love to read.
White Oleander, Wrinkle in Time, A Case of Need, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Paint it Black, The Help, The Hunger Game series, The Glass Castle, Catcher in the Rye, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Call of the Wild...and so many more

And I have to admit, I'm a fan of The X-files.
I also like watching Dexter and Parks and Recreation...Leslie Knope is my absolute hero.

I love CNN. Anderson Cooper is my favorite silver fox.
The six things I could never do without
COFFEE; record stores (and all the vinyl inside of them); Microbrews; long, drawn out, fantastic stories of epic proportions; Reddit, and CNN.

...and my cat, Dexter. He's a hoot and a half.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Politics, social injustice, health care, romance, the human connection, the small ways I can improve a stranger's day, where I want to travel to next...my mind always seems to be running about something or another :)
On a typical Friday night I am
Venturing out on some spontaneous, perhaps impulsive, adventure of some sort.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I did marching band all through high school and college...yes, I play the clarinet.
You should message me if
You want to chat about life, want to meet a new friend, or if you have a fond appreciation for spontaneity or dancing :)
