My self-summary
My name is Fred. I don't know what to say except that I am sort of a geek. I would like to find someone with similar tastes to share some time with, and who knows what after that. I'm really terrible at these things. Wouldn't it be more fun just to ask me yourself?
What I’m doing with my life
I attended college for 5 years, majoring in geology and minoring in environmental studies. I decided much too late in my college career that my heart wasn't in the sciences any more, so I decided not to finish my degree. Right now I am very much looking forward to going back and giving school another try. AINY accepted my application, but until I get some of my student loans paid down I won't be able to make that a reality.

I suppose you could call me an "artist", although I like to think of myself as more of a builder. I spend a lot of my free time writing, sculpting, or building all sorts of awesome geek toys.

A close friend of mine and I are about to open our own online business, and we hope that in the near future we can open a physical storefront as well.
I’m really good at
I love to cook, paint, sculpt, and build replica movie props. I also play percussion (fairly well) and guitar (quite poorly). Sometimes I feel a bit uncomfortable talking about what I'm good at. Seems like bragging to me.
The first things people usually notice about me
My sense of humor. My smile. My beard. A friend once commented on the suppleness of my face. I have no idea what she was talking about. Oh, and I'm a redhead, but I don't consider myself a "ginger". I have fewer freckles and SOME skin pigment. Send me a message and tell me what YOU noticed first. If I like your answer I'll post it here.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I don't read as much as I used to, but a few of my favorites are the Hitchhiker's Guide series, Dirk Gently, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, Fahrenheit 451, George Carlin, Mark Twain, the news, and fortune cookie fortunes.

My taste in movies tends to be a bit dorky, but I've never been ashamed to admit that I am a huge nerd. Basically I'm into anything that has had more than one sequel, or that people dress up in costumes for. I could watch the Star Wars movies until the end of time, and the ending of Braveheart still makes me want to cry a little bit... you know... masculine tears... Indiana Jones, Batman, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Snatch, Iron Man, Clerks, The Big Lebowski, etc...

When I do watch TV I am a huge fan of BBC comedies, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Doctor Who, American Pickers, Pawn Stars, Sons of Anarchy, Gordon Ramsay, Anthony Bourdain, Venture Brothers, Robot Chicken, Top Gear, and the Food Network.

Music tastes include the holy trinity; The Beatles, The Stones, and Bob Dylan. I also love Zeppelin, the Doors, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, AC/DC, Weezer, Tool, Bob Marley, NIN, Hendrix, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, R.E.M. etc.

As for food I like sushi, good pizza, stir-fry, totally in-authentic mexican, and anything salty. I usually prefer my own cooking to restaurant fare. And yes, I make my own sushi!

Some of my other hobbies include video games (Classics only, I don't own anything more recent than a PS2), roleplaying games (Yeah, I can be THAT sort of nerd. Pass the d20 please!), and of course writing. I play a few instruments, although I haven't been in a band since high school. I also like tattoos and look forward to getting a few more.
Six things I could never do without
1. Intarwebs
2. My netbook
3. Coke Zero
4. My art supplies
5. My sense of humor
6. My elderly Ipod filled with pirated music
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a LOT of time planning new art projects. I start with an idea, then I draw it out on paper, followed by drafting it in a CAD program, then I have to shop for the materials, and finally the assembly. 90% of the time it takes to finish a project is lost in some form of thought.

I also spend a lot of time thinking about business. I don't want my dating profile to be turned into an advertisement though, so we'll save that conversation for another time.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working. Building something. Writing. Facebooking. Cooking dinner. There's plenty of time left in that schedule for someone else.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Nonsense question. There is no grey area with privacy. Something is either private or not. Once I admit it, it's not private. Sheesh people! Dictionary!
You should message me if
You should message me if you took the time to read my entire profile, if you are a fellow geek, if you enjoy science fiction and fantasy, if you are SMART, and most importantly if you want to. I answer a lot of those "improve your matches" questions, so go check them out. A good conversation starter might be to ask me why I feel the way I do about certain things.
