My self-summary
June 2016: I've just returned to the site after a long absence and my profile is a bit of a work in progress. It needs editing a bit.
My name is Tom and I'm from Worcester. That seems obvious but I did chat with a girl once who thought it was my name and not my hometown.
My personality is a bit restrained and underplayed at the moment. I'm shy and I like to be a bit mysterious. I'm a lot more confident than I used to be though. I've answered a lot of site's questions so you should be able to get an idea of my personality from that. If you want to know anything, just ask.
If I've messaged you and we live in different towns, which is 90% of the messages I send as I live in a small town with few site members, the implication is that I will travel to you by train if we schedule a meeting.
Addition on the subject of Quickmatch: I've had some notifications of being liked on Quickmatch, however as I don't pay for A-list so I don't know who it is. If you like me on Quickmatch please message me. If I've been voted positive that's very flattering but useless without the knowledge of who voted for me. Thank you.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently out of work, looking for a job in administration. Also trying to avoid insanity and paranoia. I spend a lot of time reading.
I’m really good at
Video games, knowledge of comics and sci fi and such, remembering obscure trivia that won't ever be actually useful and occasionally boring people. I can actually deliver verbal essays on these pointless topics quite well. These are obviously not useful things but they are things nonetheless.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have no idea. I never ask. Politeness? My eccentric hand movements? Slightly quickened speech? My strange accent that doesn't come from anywhere? I should ask but that might seem strange.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Oh ye Gods...
Books: A Clockwork Orange, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Lots of others. I'll get back to you in that.
Comics: I'm a big comics fan, mostly of lesser known characters. 100 Bullets. Preacher. Y The Last Man. The Invisibles. Hellboy. Daredevil. The Dark Knight Returns. Classic X-Men. Older superhero stuff before it got too commercial based. Suicide Squad. Nikolai Dante. Strontium Dog. Rogue Trooper. Criminal. Hack/Slash. Grendel. The works of Alan Moore, Warren Ellis and Grant Morrison. Frank Miller as well, despite the low quality of his recent work and his dreadful madonna/whore complex. Berserk. Trigun. Gantz. Path of the Assassin. Hellsing. Largo Winch. Iznogoud. XIII. Starman. Hitman. Suicide Squad. Green Arrow. And many more. I am a comics fiend.
Movies: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is my favourite movie of all time. It is cinematic perfection. I've watched every movie directed by The Coen Brothers, The Big Lebowski and Barton Fink being favourites. I love the films of Quentin Tarantino, all hail. Dirty Harry. Clerks. Clerks II. In Bruges. The Godfather. Thank You For Smoking. The Warriors. Re-Animator. The Invisible Man. Zatoichi. Grosse Pointe Blank. Dracula 1931. Frankenstein. Bride of Frankenstein. The Invisible Man. The Day The Earth Stood Still. House of Wax 1953. The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I like most Tim Burton movies. Sweeney Todd. I still sing the songs randomly. Fight Club. State of Grace. Blade Runner. The Truman Show. Rocky. The Lord of the Rings Extended. We may need a bigger boat for all of this. I love old movies. Classic horror with Vincent Price is always fun. House on Haunted Hill is ridiculously fun. Christopher Nolan's Batman movies. I have a complicated relationship with the earlier ones. Run, Lola, Run.
Television: This is even worse... The X-Files. The Wire. The Sopranos. Oz. Deadwood. The Shield. Seinfeld. Curb Your Enthusiasm. Entourage. Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Angel. Firefly. Dollhouse. 30 Rock. Blackadder. The Office, in both it's forms. Community. Sledge Hammer. Black Books. The Simpsons. Daria. Family Guy. American Dad. The Cleveland Show. The Big Bang Theory. How I Met Your Mother. Dexter. Being Human. Lost. Fawlty Towers. Spaced. The West Wing. Chuck. Doctor Who. Arrested Development. Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law. The Venture Brothers. Archer. We Can Be Heroes: Finding the Australian of the Year. Summer Heights High. Modern Family. The Thick of It. True Blood. Misfits. Skins. Revenge. Breaking Bad. Justified. Game of Thrones. Boardwalk Empire. Ray Donovan. Banshee. Scandal. Girls. The Flash. Arrow. Supergirl. Westworld.
Music: Muse. Pulp. Eels. The Cribs. Joy Division. The Smiths. Morrissey. The Killers. Ladyhawke. The Cure. Tori Amos. Green Day (American Idiot and International Superhits. I know nothing of what came later). Eurythmics.
Video games: RED DEAD REDEMPTION. It as close to perfection as a video game can get. I also love the Assassin's Creed series. I play most Lego games as well, they're just pure fun. The first Lego Batman is the best, but Lego The Lord of the Rings and Lego Marvel Superheroes are very close. Grand Theft Auto, particularly IV. L.A. Noire. Deus Ex. inFamous 1, 2 and Second Son. Old school Doom and Wolfenstein. The original Pokémon games. Harvest Moon. The Legend of Zelda. The Walking Dead. Sleeping Dogs. Alice: Madness Returns. Far Cry 3, Blood Dragon, 4 and Primal.
Food: Sushi. Pizza. Miscellaneous consumables...
Six things I could never do without
I have no idea. I'm very chaotic. I may not be able to think of just six...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Space. Death. Films that annoy me. Comedy. Ways to improve myself. I'm actually a lot more upbeat than I seem.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually staying in. Sometimes out with friends. Perhaps watching a film.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
is private. I can't think of anything embarassing that I actually want to share. I know it's meant to disarm me and make me approachable but I like my privacy.
You should message me if
I have no idea how to answer this. I want to appear approachable but I don't want to appear boastful or arrogant or what have you. If you want to meet someone with a strange set of rules for life and a complex, muddled code of honour that doesn't entirely make sense but usually sends me in the right direction, then I am ideal. I think if you consider yourself a geek or nerd or whatnot, you could contact me. I really need to find a way to make this sound like fun...
I've seen a lot of people say that they're nervous about contacting people after they visit their profiles. Don't worry about it. I don't need a complex formal message. I will respond to anything I receive. Despite a lot of my profile making me sound like a terminal psychotic, I'm very approachable. Mostly.
The two of us
