My self-summary
I'm a writer, a mom of two teens.
On the Myers-Brigg I am ENFP.

I've lived a pretty good life, I loved what I did for 19 years, raising our kids while traveling to Mexico, Central America, Canada, and Western Australia for 6 months. at a time. For the past four years, I have been in San Diego without traveling.

I'm a big science fiction geek (movies, TV shows or books)

I always like meeting new people.

I do yoga, and I love the shape I'm in.

I don't do drugs and ideally, you don't (anymore), either. I drink socially.
What I’m doing with my life
Writing a novel and blogging, parenting two lively teens (16 & 18), hiking, connecting with people. Loving my life now, just as much as the life that I'm leaving behind.

Being a parent to teens means that I am in the midst of pop-culture, so I watch some TV, some of the newest movies, listen to lots of interesting music NOT from my generation. All the while, I am introducing my kids to classic comedies on TV and the movies, classic music, reading lots of books with them for discussion.
Recently got into economic books because of my son.
I’m really good at
Imagining what is on top of your refrigerator.
Why do socks go in the washing machine as a pair but come out as singletons?
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyebrows? They are always asking me how I get them so silky soft.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
So I read someone else's profile and I loved the way they had it set up, so here goes (so I guess I'm stealing someone else's format off of here and I'm not giving him any attribution and he knows who he is)
I'm more of a Kaylee than an Inara, to your Wash but I wish I was more of a Zoe.

If you ask me who I like as writers, I might answer Isaac Assimov but I might also say Joss Whedon, Neil Gaiman, or J.J. Abrams.

My "comfort" movie would be "The Princess Bride" but I'm just as likely to pick "Bare Naked Ladies in America" (makes me laugh every time so hard that I feel like I have done a full ab workout) or "Galaxy Quest" depending on availability, who I'm with, and what snacks are on hand. "Guardians of the Galaxy"!!!

LOTR (both the books and the movies), sci-fi movies and books in general, currently reading the classic "A Mote In God's Eye" but I love non-fiction, also.

Movies? As a member of SAG/AFTRA (and not for anything you would have seen me in, I liked "Room", "Brooklyn", "The Imitation Game", (LOVED) "The Big Short", and "The Danish Girl" but my kids and I have watched "Schindler's List", "Life is Beautiful", among others.
I am editing this to say "HOW COULD I HAVE FORGOTTEN "Army of Darkness"?" Carry on...
Love All Mel Brooks Movies but my favorites are"Young Frankenstein" and "Blazing Saddles". Mel Brooks, in his prime, was a writer's god.
"Monty Python and the Holy Grail" and all things Monty Python.
Just recently watched "The Judge" (loved it and it was totally a dude's movie), "Gone Girl" (loved the book but the movie was just good), "The Imitation Game" (Benedict Cumberbatch? Yes, please!), "The Theory of Everything" (good-ish), "Bird Man" (good but pretentious; very New York), "Wild" (the book was good but uneven and the move- same). "Cake" Jennifer Aniston was robbed when she wasn't nominated for an Oscar.

Side note where there is no side- We went to Comic Con in summer of 2013 but didn't dress up. What a shame. And I went to WorldCon (MidAmeriCon) in August of 2016.

TV? Oy to the vey, I have watched some reality TV, but I like shows like "The Walking Dead" but also love "The Talking Dead", "Modern Family", "Firefly", 'Eureka", "SuperNatural". Now into "Jane The Virgin", "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and now "Agent Carter", "Black Mirror", "Gilmore Girls", The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Myers, SNL, and a lot of sci fi shows.

Music? I like almost everything; Reggae (Bob Marley is something that the kids grew up on), Jazz (I played Tenor Sax for a couple of years, so I love Stan Getz, Lew Tabackin, but I also love Dizzy Gilespie, Miles Davis, really old Louis Armstrong), classic rock, new rock, pop rock, all sorts of music. Jackson 5. Blondie. Sex Pistols. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack Johnson,'Jason Mraz.
The 18 yr old boy is introducing me to Glitch Hop and and rap/hip hop. The 16 yr old girl is making me love Green Day, Train, Cake, Imagine dragons, One Republic and Sublime because of our awesome ability to massacre those songs by singing while driving.

My guilty pleasures? Singing Bruno Mars songs in my car as loudly and as badly as I can. Great stress reliever when there is no one to come home to and "that" is not available, ("that" is my favorite stress reliever). Also, I confess. I love "The 20/20 experience" by Justin Timberlake, both albums and can sing a good number of the songs until they are stuck in my head. Sighing.

Food? I like to say that I grew up finicky, so that I could scare everyone later with my adventurous tastes. I love fish, love sushi, love Italian, love Japanese, Love, love, love Mexican food, love all kinds of food. I won't eat it if it can lick me back (I'm Mexican and tongue is considered a delicacy... um, N to the O, no!) or it can look at me (Yes, I am talking to that eyeball on my plate!), or it is still moving (live shrimp, dipped in tempura, flash deep fried for less than a minute and served to the fresh-off-the-airplane-from-Japan businessman sitting next to me at a Sushi bar in Costa Mesa).
The six things I could never do without
My two kids, my dog, belly laughs, writing and books.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what is the best thing in the world for me? What will I do next week? How will I get my novel finished? What research can I do to help it get done?
What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
On a typical Friday night I am
trying to figure out where my comfort zone is and then push out of it! Considering doing some stand-up.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
is that I am human, last time I checked. (did that sound convincing?)
You should message me if
if you write me a first message, can you remember that I am a grammar nerdette! Nothing like a first impression, right?

Love your life as it is now- think of your life as cake, and I'm the icing.

Please respond if you are a happy, funny person and
have a fantastic day!
