While I possess many fine qualities, I have to acknowledge having my share of rough edges. Intelligent and articulate, I will make you laugh. But, while I can be playfully charming and outgoing, I do have my quiet and introspective side. I'd like to think I balance my confidence with a reasonable dose of humility (which when one has lived with 3 daughters, comes with the territory). My youngest, now 24, is out of the house and certainly old enough to look after herself. Seems I need to find a new date for the theater.
I am Intelligent, Articulate, and Irreverent
Authors: Steinbeck, Dickens, Michael Chabon, Bradbury, LeGuin, Shakespeare. Titles: Blink, On the Road, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Angela's Ashes, Brave New World, Omnivore's Dilemma, Hitchhiker's Guide, etc, etc
Music: I like it all. Admittedly favor "rootsy" folks like Van Morrison, Delbert McClinton, Bonnie Raitt, Los Lobos, and James Hunter, (though pop artists like Sting and Steve Winwood certainly get my attention). Live, I listen to a lot of of jazz (though both rock and acoustic music get frequent attention). Miles Davis, Getz and Gilberto, Django, Weather Report, Turtle Island Quartet, Brubeck with Desmond, Latin jazz. I will listen to most musical genres and find something I like
Movies: You've got to be kidding ... The Long Hot Summer (Newman and Woodword but especially Orson Welles), The Godfather, Mean Streets, the first Star Wars was awfully cool, The Lives of Others, Monsoon Wedding, Juno, Amelie, Pulp Fiction, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, Slumdog. Pretty much any Marx Brothers (any "Night at" or "Day at" -- Duck Soup), Holiday or Bringing Up Baby (Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn worked well together) The question may be posed ... what movies would you happily watch multiple times?
