My self-summary
Working in the social services field, I've been for almost ten years. I live in Santa Monica with my trusty dog--Butternut. I like my porch cactus garden, independent films, and Democracy Now!, from New York, Frontline-on PBS, and Counterpunch, on Facebook.

I've worked at some different jobs in my life, like sports writing, then news writing and radio journalism; I've worked at the famed Bodhi Tree Bookstore, and am a peace and justice activist.

About the election of the Mango Mussolini, time to get up, stand up...maybe I saw you in LA at the Million Women's March, at the airport, the tax march, the science march, or elsewhere in the streets. If not, I should see you there.

Am decidedly left wing, but as someone once said--I'm not necessarily trying to change the world, but am more interested trying to keep it from changing me.
I'm loyal, heartfelt and sometimes funny. I'm looking for a woman who can appreciate life, and importantly has time for a relationship.

This March, 2017, I've had the opportunity to go Aspen and to Mammoth, on two separate ski trips--one with family, and the other with the Sierra Club.

Over the years, I've traveled; walked cities of Tokyo, Managua, hitchhiked to Skopje after walking Athens; taken a train thru England in Winter, to Glasgow from London, and the Faslene Peace Camp-- walked in Rio, Vienna, London, Mexico, Zurich, Bern, Tel Aviv, and Dubrovnik. I've been in much of the US and some of the South, and I'm sort of proudly from Omaha, Nebraska.

Here in SoCal, I like to travel by light rail, Amtrak, by walking, bus, bicycle, or car to a favorite restaurant or museum.
What I’m doing with my life
I also enjoy going out with friends, weekend farmers markets, and having coffee. I am still trying to "make a difference" in the world as a personal aspiration.

I've managed small non-profits in the past. Today, I'm working for a fine local non-profit which serves the homeless and low income population. I like radio--not much commercial TV, though I watch sometimes.
I’m really good at
Knowing what direction I'm walking,
and popping good popcorn in a pan.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I listen first. "A wise man once said--nothing."

(*please send a message if your interested to meet or write. I can't tell from any "likes" I may get. Thx.)

I spend a lot of time thinking about
"When we get more houses than we can live in, more cars than we can ride in, more food than we can eat ourselves, the only way of getting richer is by cutting off those who don't have enough."
--Nelson Algren, author
On a typical Friday night I am
Planning tommorrow's bike ride to the nearby Saturday farmer's market.
Hanging out with Butternut, the dog. Listening to music.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I tend to get up really early.
You should message me if
....you can appreciate slowing down,
and you have a social conscience.

.....you think you're clever, funny, insightful....or you can appreciate that in a partner.
