My self-summary
I just got a garden spot in Santa Monica Community Gardens. I'm working " in the field" as we speak! Just back from a great trip to the Farm/Garden Conference at UC Santa Cruz. What a place UCSC and it's environs are. Different from Santa Monica.

I'm loyal, heartfelt and sometimes funny. I'm looking for a woman who can appreciate life, and importantly has time for a relationship. I'm a lefty politicaly.

Working in the social services field, I've been for almost ten years. I live in Santa Monica with my trusty dog--Butternut. I like my porch cactus garden, independent films, and Democracy Now!, from New York, Frontline-on PBS, and Counterpunch, on Facebook.

I've worked at some different jobs in my life, like sports writing, then news writing and radio journalism; I've worked at the famed Bodhi Tree Bookstore, and am a peace and justice activist.

About the election of the Mango Mussolini, maybe I saw you in LA at the Million Women's March, at the airport, the tax march, the science march, or elsewhere in the streets. If not, I should see you there. About monuments, bring down all the Confederate statues, and for that matter why do we have all the war monuments to America's endless wars?

This March, 2017, I went to Aspen and to Mammoth, on two separate ski trips--one with family, and the other with the Sierra Club.

Over the years, I've traveled; walked cities of Tokyo, Managua, hitchhiked to Skopje after walking Athens; taken a train thru England in Winter, to Glasgow from London, and the Faslene Peace Camp-- walked in Rio, Vienna, London, Mexico, Zurich, Bern, Tel Aviv, and Dubrovnik. I've been in much of the US and some of the South, and I'm sort of proudly from Omaha, Nebraska.

Here in SoCal, I like to travel by light rail, Amtrak, by walking, bus, bicycle, or car to a favorite restaurant or museum.
What I’m doing with my life
I also enjoy going out with friends, weekend farmers markets, and having coffee. I am still trying to "make a difference" in the world as a personal aspiration.

I've managed small non-profits in the past. Today, I'm working for a fine local non-profit which serves the homeless and low income population. I like radio--not much commercial TV, though I watch sometimes.
I’m really good at
Knowing what direction I'm walking,
and popping "perfect" popcorn in a pan.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I listen first. "A wise man once said--nothing."

(*please send a message if your interested to meet or write. I can't tell from any "likes" I may get. Thx.)

* "N"
* iPod music

Things I could do without:

* multitasking
* The OkC phrase: "People say I look younger than I am...."
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What author Nelsen Algren said:

"When we get more houses than we can live in, more cars than we can ride in, more food than we can eat ourselves, the only way of getting richer is by cutting off those who don't have enough."
On a typical Friday night I am
Planning tommorrow's bike ride to the Santa Monica farmer's market.
Hanging out with Butternut, my dog. Listening to music.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I tend to get up really early.
You should message me if can appreciate slowing down,
and you have a social conscience.

..... you're clever, funny, insightful....or you aspire to be.
