I love running (I'm a marathon survivor), scouting out ethnic restaurants and local coffee shops, traveling, (I took a year off during college to backpack around the world) live music, weekend morning movies (especially when they are half off! :)) and Sunday roasts with friends. (and apparently including lots of parenthesis in my self-summary...)
I lived in NYC for the past 10 years and, while I think I could be happy there for life, I also wanted to be closer to family (who are in Wisconsin.) I moved to Chicago in the beginning of August, and am loving it. Any tips on hidden gems (or totally obvious ones ;)?!
Work-wise, I am currently designing curriculum for English Language Learners with EL Education, an educational organization I have grown to respect very much. Prior to this, I worked as an ELL Specialist at a founding elementary school in East Harlem, teaching and designing a program for English Language Learners. And before that, I taught middle schoolers through their beautifully awkward teenage years at a charter school in the South Bronx, while getting students excited about playing scrabble at lunch.
I watch very little TV, but I have recently started watching and love Jon Oliver…! :)
Amelie, Motorcycle Diaries, The Princess Bride, Green Butchers and Elf stick out as all time favorites on the big screen.
