My self-summary
I'm a true midwesterner, who loves finding a community wherever I am. I may have once written a birthday card from the neighborhood for the homeless man who lived down the street because he told me it was his birthday. It was March 18th. I checked with him the next year and it was his birthday yet again, proving I can be as trusting as I am...;)

I love running (I'm a marathon survivor), scouting out ethnic restaurants and local coffee shops, traveling, (I took a year off during college to backpack around the world) live music, weekend morning movies (especially when they are half off! :)) and Sunday roasts with friends. (and apparently including lots of parenthesis in my self-summary...)

I lived in NYC for the past 10 years and, while I think I could be happy there for life, I also wanted to be closer to family (who are in Wisconsin.) I moved to Chicago in the beginning of August, and am loving it. Any tips on hidden gems (or totally obvious ones ;)?!
What I’m doing with my life
I recently bought a ukelele and am eager to learn as many songs as possible. Any suggestions?! :)

Work-wise, I am currently designing curriculum for English Language Learners with EL Education. Prior to this, I worked as an ELL Specialist at a founding elementary school in East Harlem, teaching and designing a program for English Language Learners. And before that, I taught middle schoolers through their beautifully awkward teenage years at a charter school in the South Bronx, while getting students excited about playing scrabble at lunch.
I’m really good at
laughing at myself, looking at the bright side of things and finding positive solutions to challenging situations. I also love being an ear whenever it is needed.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm always smiling :)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favorite book of all time (well so far) is Jane Eyre.

I watch very little TV, but I have recently started watching and love Jon Oliver…! :)

Amelie, Motorcycle Diaries, The Princess Bride, Green Butchers and Elf stick out as all time favorites on the big screen.
Six things I could never do without
Family and friends, travel, laughter, heartfelt conversations, running, scrabble and a job that makes a difference. I guess that's eight! [extra credit?? (echo the kids...)]
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Code names. And bananagrams. Don't worry bananagrams, you can't be replaced!
On a typical Friday night I am
out to dinner or relaxing at home with friends, out to see live music, at the movies, playing board games or spending time outdoors if the weather allows for it.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once ate a fried cockroach in Thailand and hated it. But when I tried a silkworm, immediately following, I found it to be surprisingly delicious (maybe in comparison?) and we ordered a bag as our day hike's snack...
You should message me if
you are excited about life, always up for learning something new, love to laugh and don't take yourself too seriously.
