My self-summary
Hard working and humorous, academic and entrepreneur...15+ years living abroad including Peace Corps and Thai tsunami relief, ex-Christmas tree farmer, ex- antique importer, ex-HS division head, presently in the hospitality end of the Caribbean, Guinness imbiber, planes-trains-automobies-pedicabs-zip lines-SCUBA- kayak-Tevas-skinny dipping...the journey has been and will continue to be the destination. I like doing things with passion and that includes helping people out.
What I’m doing with my life
Spreading love and compassion with an occasional pint, often with stubbed toes and always with intent. I enjoy doing a lot of things...when I'm not teaching I create my own businesses. Right now that means property management in Curacao. It's perfect as I can travel where I like and maintain all of the marketing communications online. Getting ready for next international teaching adventure/Curacao times. Recently returned from Ushuaia, kayaking in the Beagle Channel and going upriver in Suriname!
I’m really good at
Enjoying sunsets, deep breakfasts, telling jokes, walking in the woods and mountains, coralling the side of my house, creating gardens, taking my time with important things, discussing ways to solve the worlds problems, ecouraging students to bridge the gap between nose picking and self-actualizing, getting lost and loving every second of it.
The first things people usually notice about me
after height...being a good conversationalist
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
WORDS-I'm voracious, always have been...Illusions, 100 Years of Solitude, The House of Spirits, The Moors Last Sigh, Dune, Oh, The Places You'll Go!, Stephen King, The Human Stain, anything about China, anything well written VIEWS-Requiem for a Dream, Life is Beautiful, Raging Bull, Baraka, BBC Planet Earth, The Hangover, Office Space, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, proper horror/sci-fi/gangster/drama...TUNES-Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, classic rock, U2, RHCP, new bands in dive bars (that serve Irish tonic), classical, Chicago acoustic blues, gamalon, erhu... CHOW-kabobs on street corners, oysters at The Bookstore, sushi on the back of a boat, any proper ethnic food-spice is nice...I am a voracious omnivore and like to work it off.
The six things I could never do without
A breeze through some trees
Distractions from the routine
Anticipation of an adventure
A well told joke
Salt water
Hugging...I enjoy right, proper hugs and where they lead
I spend a lot of time thinking about
creatively solving problems
why my passport isn't getting stamped
Which direction I'm going to kayak or SCUBA
How the human condition has evolved over time and where we are going...not to the Bank of America ( I hope)
On a typical Friday night I am
no such thing as typical...reading, working, working out, taking pictures, cooking with friends, maybe out...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Those things will come out in a good conversation!
You should message me if
You want to go kayaking early in the morning and take some foggy river pics. Grab some poached eggs, hash and rye toast after that but before we hit the beach/go for a hike. Enjoying a cold beer or a proper negroamaro afterwards in a fun atmosphere...you want a good conversation with shared stories, plenty of head shaking at the current state of affairs and arriving at fun solutions. You live with intent and gratitude.
