My self-summary
I grew up in Oakland, lived in New York for the better part of 7 years, and recently moved to San Francisco. I miss NY, but I could wax poetic about California for days.

I don't consider myself a romantic, but I'm a very passionate person. I'd like to feel passionately about someone. I'm definitely not forcing it though.

I'm in touch with my experiences as an African American male. I consider them integral to forming my wide-ranging perspectives about the world.

You will simply not meet a bigger fan of the Golden State Warriors. I also love fireworks, suspension bridges, Legos and candy.
What I’m doing with my life
I went to Columbia, and that was mostly cool. Then worked for a sports media site, which wasn't bad. Now I'm in education technology, which has been fantastic so far. I'm also applying to a philosophy PhD program, and I'm mulling some volunteer opportunities.

When I'm not working I make time for yoga/basketball/weights, keeping up with current events and voicing my opinions on social media, taking walks in search of scenic things, reading on the train, engaging in stimulating conversation, and having random adventures with friends. I spend a lot of time in my head, and also in the clouds.
I’m really good at
Seeing your point; driving; cohesive prose; singing; organization; things that require athleticism or hand-eye coordination; wit, sarcasm and self-deprecation.
The first things people usually notice about me
People have told me I'm really chill and also that I'm really intense. I've also gotten 'charming' a lot. (That one's my favorite). On top of that, there's:

My unique name; I tend to use big words; I know and lot of really trivial information, and will passionately and unapologetically share it with you; I'm pretty good at conversations with strangers.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I tend to gravitate to action and science fiction movies, but I'm open to anything. I love watching movies I've never seen before. Also, anything with James Bond in it.

I don't tend to re-read books but I have fond memories of these: A Song of Ice and Fire, The Book of Basketball, Crime and Punishment, Republic: Lost, Long Walk to Freedom, The Godfather, Carry Me Like Water...

I haven't owned a TV in years but that hasn't stopped me. Some of my favorites: House of Cards, Futurama, Archer, The Walking Dead, Batman: the Animated Series, TNG-Era Star Trek shows, SportsCenter, Pardon the Interruption, The Simpsons...

Music: Michael Jackson is tops, but I love almost everything else. I'm an iTunes purist; no Spotify for me, and very little Pandora. I like to be in control.

Food: I like NorCal burritos and kettle corn. I dislike salt & vinegar chips and mushrooms.
Six things I could never do without
Empathy; Basketball; Real Friends; Coffee; Epic Landscapes; Music and the means to hear it; Things that cover my ears in the winter
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Characters in my family; Global climate change; Policy; Ineptitudes and corruptions at all levels of government; The unsustainable nature of capitalism; Libido-related stuff; The differences between a person, people and society; Sports; How fortunate I am; Pragmatism; The really cool stuff have made. e.g. airplanes, smartphones, suspension bridges, etc.; The monumental paths products take to get from their unadulterated origins, to consumers, to landfills; My next moves in life; Travel; Architecture; Things that make me laugh; Imagined communities; Action movies; Issues that affect Black people; Issues that affect poor people; What my next tattoo will be; Metaphysics; Holy shit, there are 7 billion other people.
On a typical Friday night I am
This question annoys me slightly more than the others.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a fervently nonreligious person who loves Christmas. It's by far my favorite holiday, followed by anything with fireworks. Santa and Jesus would be a bomb-ass gay dad combo. Think about it.
You should message me if
You employ compassion in your life and philosophies; You like to look good, and keep on top of physical and mental health; You enjoy smoking (not tobacco); You're a good listener and a meaningful talker; You're from the Bay Area and passionate about it; You're from anywhere else and passionate about it; You want to go on an SF adventure; You want to shoot the shit about basketball or football; You want to shoot the shit about policy or government; You want to go out for drinks; You want to order in; You want to go ride some roller coasters; You want to go ride something else -- I like rides, and innuendo.
