My self-summary
I am an elementary school math/reading special education teacher. I am concurrently a Ph.D student and will be for at least the next 4 years. I have written plays for my undergraduate school and have written countless plans as a teacher. I have acted in my plays and have put on a show for my students the past 4 years so the whole lecturing and writing is something I find fun!

I have learned a little bit of salsa at the moment and am surprised by how technical it is (it takes way more skill to do than the Whip in my opinion). I had never taken dancing lessons before and feel that a understanding (by that I mean patient) partner can really help me learn. I learned quite a bit but taking lessons in a big room with 100 people was not easy.

I want to learn some new things from other people; I want to hear some stories that would make me roll on the floor laughing or gasp in complete shock. I want to learn/do new things that will better myself.

There's is definitely no better way to learn about others and yourself than through a grueling, 10-day trip where sleep is rarely provided and you are randomly roaming the streets of Rome at 3 in the morning after a night of hot European style clubbing.
What I’m doing with my life
Studying education and education policy and becoming a professor or becoming a policy maker so that I can become a Sith Lord.
I’m really good at
teaching, working out, basketball, volleyball, studying, writing
The first things people usually notice about me
The way I dress
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Curious Incident of the Dog at Nighttime, various research papers regarding human development and educational policy.
Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Lars and the Real Girl. Watching more movies is a goal of mine.
Music: Wide ranging from Bob Segar, John Mellencamp, AC/DC, Aerosmith to showtunes
Food: Red meat, potatoes, chicken, anything that is really bad for you (traveling has expanded my palette and I am willing to try more)
Six things I could never do without
The gym, my computer, sleep, music, and can't quite think of the other two yet...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why kids hate school so much and how I can change it, how I can find a midnight screening of some awesomely bad movies (ie. The Room) What Top 40 songs would sound like if sung by William Shatner, how much the Tea Party sucks (I swear they should be in their own sitcom).
On a typical Friday night I am
resting after a hard week of work and school. I sometimes go out to bars. Other times I go out for a movie. I am willing to add more weekend activities and would love to hear some cool/unique suggestions.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am really bad at bowling and laser tag. Seriously, little kids have beaten me at both of these.
You should message me if
You would like to have a sports partner. If you are someone that will laugh at awesomely bad movies with like The Room or genuinely enjoy a wide range of movies. A chess player and/or scrabble player is also welcome. If you are a fellow doc student or have a Ph.D., bonus points!
